This is a beautiful pub situated right on the river — as others have mentioned you really do need a car(although there is a bus stop just over the road, which I think is on the Lichfield-Tamworth Arriva line) but it’s well worth it. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable for it, with good beers to boot! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

This is the perfect place for a family pub outing but equally if you are children averse the pub is large enough that you can escape any. I used to love going out to the pub with my family or friend’s families over the summer when it was sunny, it felt like a great escape, especially fi they had a swing set. Set alongside the canal, you instantly get a feel for a British summer, so long as the sun is actually shining. Just a short ride out of Birmingham, it can easily feel like a fun escape from the packed city centre pubs. With a full bar and good ales they also offer great food with proper chips. I love how the nature of the chips served helps define how good a pub is and these are proper fat chip shop style chips. As a traditional style pub with a big beer garden and loads of parking, it’s worth a trip out.

The Tame Otter is a BEAUTIFUL example of a country pub. It has a massive beer garden, tonnes of free parking, and sits on one side of the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal where on a sunny day barges will slowly meander on by with the occasional holidaymaker waving enthusiastically. Inside, the pub is decked out in a very traditional way(they have a big passion for all things ‘vintage!) — lots of chalkboard signs, shiny brass beer pumps, and lately it’s had a load of bunting strung about. It’s deceptively large, sprawls across multiple levels, so you feel like you’re in a cosy private space rather than the large pub that it is. The food menu is massive — and the chips they do are big fat chipshop style chips. YUM! There’s plenty of space so if you have a large family and want somewhere lovely to go on a hot summer’s day for lunch or dinner, then it’s DEFINITELY worth the trek out from the city centre to visit this place.

Lovely little country pub, great for both winter(with the roaring fire) and summer(with the beer garden). There is a lovely bar area with seating areas suitable for familys and couples. The food there is excellent, typical pub ‘grub’. The staff are very efficient and helpful. The place is always absolutly packed — which although can be quite annoying at times — it just goes to show how popular this charming country pub is.

Situated by the canal this is a lovely pub. it has a large car park and a small outside seating area. The pub has a large bar area and offer a good food selction of food competitively priced. It is always busy which is a good sign. Toilets are a little pokey and some staff a little young.
