oh tavern where have you gone, bloody expensive and so divey now !! all that gave you the claim to fame has gone. Its a pub full of strangers thinking they are gelled because they frequent the TAV’ …so so sad… may you rest in peace… eventually.

It has a lot of history and quite some years ago it was quite an establishment. And Im sure it will return to former glory one day soon. As for the décor it is what it is and if it bothers you that much you can always leave, but a spot of new paint would’nt go a miss just to attract some new patrons. As for the drug going’s on it seems to be quite bold and out in the open which can’t be good for anyones trade and should be addressed. But on a whole the bar staff were very friendly and so were the people in tavern, unpretentious locals having a drink.

I agree with Fallen Angel — not a place for me. Its the proverbial dive where you ‘wipe your feet on the way out’. Full of the towns most notorious and unwashed, and yes well known for its drug related problems.
This could actually be a nice little pub if it was taken in hand — but alas not somewhere I would venture into unless under duress. They have a cheesy disco and a karaōke at the weekend and some people I know DO go in for amusement value alone. The outdoor area could be lovely in the summer — but instead is just downright seedy. As its partially hidden from view of the street allsorts goes on in here. and its not pretty!!!

We went there to see a decent band & the night was spoilt by several forms of drugged-up and drunken pond-life of whom the management not only did nothing about but continued to serve.
We won’t go again!
Reference rating: No stars for the pub but the band deserve 5 stars for stoicism!
