I thought it was great here. I booked a table for one at one on good Friday and arrived a few minutes early. My first impression was that it’s a nice, cosy, tiny restaurant. Very bistro style. The table was set up for one, which was good. Often when I dine solo the table is either set up for two which stays there the whole time or they tidy away the plates while I’m sat there. Nothing drums home the dining alone thing like the other plates being tidied away. The waiter was extremely French, which I liked. He bought me a wine list over and a menu and left me to it. I ordered quickly — lamb cutlets with Boulanger potatoes, broccoli and some roast veg. I had a large glass of wine also. The wine list was extensive but expensive. There was only maybe 3 options of wine by the glass. Then the cheapest bottle was probably £20 or so. I was bought over the wine, a bread roll and the nicest touch was that I was offered a couple of food related magazines to read. That was good, and something that I’ve not been offered yet while dining alone. The food was really good. It was a good portion size, cooked really well. I finished up and ordered a Tart Tatin for pudding. It was a really good tart, I’d probably say it was even better than my own. All in all, it was a good boozy lunch experience. I’ll go again of an evening at some point.
