This is a wonderful conversion of a former headquarters-type building. The accommodation is suitable for families with young children as well as older dedicated walkers and visitors to the area. We found the rooms rather cramped for our purposes; we were two couples in a small room with two sets of bunk beds and very little room to move between them. Almost all of the rooms are upstairs and could have caused problems if we had been there for more than a couple of days. The self-catering facilitiesw are excellent and cover anyone’s needs — we were part of a very mixed group of 64 adults and children with vegans and carnivores amongst us! There is a games room with large-screen TV, a pool table and a selection of board games and a teachers’ lounge with a selection of books. The dining area is large enough to take all who are staying at the time — we had plenty of room. As with a lot of YHA hostels, car parking was not a priority when they were established, so it can be a problem here, but not insoluble. Ironbridge itself is approximately twenty minutes brisk walk away along Paradise itself and is well worth a visit. All of the other industrial museums are close at hand and even Blists Hill Victorian Town in a very short drive away.
