New World

Nice cozy restaurant. .but it’s really a Chinese and southeast Asian food restaurant… not Vietnamese. I was hoping for a gargantuan bowl of phở, but was told by the proprietor that it would not sell well in this area! Really? The entire England needs good phở, badly.
But every other dish was quite good. Hot and sour soup lived up to its name. Fried shrimp with salt and pepper had the right amount of scallions. Sizzling steak fillet was served with great sauce on hot plate. Stir fry mixed vegetables had fantastic hot wok flavor. And Singapore noodles was spicy and curry enough to tickle your nose.
Prices are fair and service was good. Deserves a revisit.

Went to New World on a wet Saturday evening in January. Welcome and service were good. Aromatic Duck was crisp but meat moist. Main course was cooked right — fresh vegetables with a little extra chili at our request. We will come again

We had a pleasant enough meal at the New World, the fillet beef & prawn birds nest was delicious if less than fantastically presented. Our meal was pricey but the service was friendly. Would go again.

We had a fabulous meal here on New Years Eve. There were a lot of regulars but we were still made to feel really welcome and we had a really tasty meal. Would recommend it to anyone!

We’ve always had an excellent time whenever we’ve visited the New World in Tewkesbury; the food is always of a very high standard and delicious and service is great. We have got to know the staff well over the years and they are incredibly friendly and polite.
The review below doesn’t sound anything like the New World that we know we’ve never seen or heard anything like the below during the many years we’ve been.
We can wholeheartedly recommend the New World to anyone wanting a great Vietnamese/​Chinese meal. We’ve been there many times over the last few years, brought our friends along, and will keep on visiting.

My husband and I decided to have a romantic night in and takeaway from the New World Resturant, Tewekesbury. However once we had returned home, we found that our order was incomplete, out chicken was not cooked properley and the meal in general resembled a dogs meal platter. We telephoned the resturant to inform them of our complaints, The women at the resturant voiced her own opinions on my opinion and stated that the chicken has been cooked along with everyother eating guest present at the resturant tonight! and mearly offered us a credit note on the one item that was missing?! My husband and I rarely complain of a bad meal, But this was BAD! My husband was unsatisfied by the response I had been given so we rang again to inform them we would be bringing our meals back. To my horror on entering the resturant, The lady at the premises had informed some regulars of my return and I was set upon by all! The chef came out pointing his finger at me (like a mad man!) raising his voice and telling me that there is no problem with his dishes and his regulars have never complained and that he has had not one complaint in the zillion years he has been present! I was then spoken to quiet rudly by one of his regulars and told that I obviously do not know Chinese food and It’s the best place they have eaten at for the last 18 years! I kept my cool and made a point that I did not want to cause a stir, But it seems they do not take kindly to offence and the regulars have obviously never left the town of Tewkesbury to taste real food! In fairness the prices are reasonable and they did give us a full refund, However I would never wish to eat from there again. The whole experience was very strange?! But I guess that’s small town folk for you! I’ll stick to fish and chips for now in Tewkesbury!

The best chinese restaurant in Tewkesbury. I have been to this restaurant on many occasions and have never failed to have a great meal. Décor is a bit old fashioned but the food is fantastic. The crispy peking duck starter is to be highly recommended. If you are in Tewkesbury and fancy a good chinese meal this is the place for you.
