A visit to Grimes Graves is ok, but nothing much more than that. Most of the ‘graves’(another word for mine /pit) are nothing much more than grassy lumps. The visitors centre is quite interesting to find out about the history of the site(they were prehistoric flint mines) and having the chance to go down a ladder into one of the graves is a highlight, but there’s not much more to it than that. The site is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of the local plants and fauna, so if that’s your kind of thing it may be a bit more interesting to visit. It’s operated by English Hertage and costs £3 to get it. It is closed between the end of October and the start of March.
