Tiverton Castle is just outside Tiverton on the road to Exeter. It is a beautiful small castle where you can stay in its accommodation or just visit. It is a private house and not a National Trust property so you are allowed to sit on the chairs. You can read about the ghost stories and find out about secret passages. To walk around the gardens is at the very reasonable rate of £1.50. There are regular guided tours every Sunday, otherwise you can wander around at your own leisure. Open from Easter Sunday right through to the end of October on Sundays, Thursdays and Bank Holidays only. They do accept bookings of groups of over 12 by arrangement outside of the normal opening times. Disabled access is limited to the gardens and the ground floor of the castle only. The only drawback is that there are no catering facilities available. Well worth a visit for the gardens on a nice sunny Sunday afternoon!
