Maya

Went to Maya for our 20^th Wedding anniversary recently. It was a Tuesday so expected it to be quiet. We had the full attention of the friendly and ‘chatty’ staff who gave us great service. We were assisted with our choices (as we do not eat Indian food often) and we were not disappointed. The food was well presented, tasty, well cooked and plentiful we could not eat all our portions! With alcoholic drinks included on the bill we thought it was very reasonably priced. Would definitely go again.

Went here with wife’s brother and his partner for a New Year eve special banquet, was beyond dreadful, most of the food was left uneaten and cost about £25,00 per head, thought it might have been a one off so went again recently, don’t know who does the cooking but they should be replaced as a matter of urgency, yet again we left nearly all of the food. The very worst Indian restaurant we have been to in over 35 years. Would rather have beans on toast at home !!!

Very interesting menu with a greater range of dishes than your average Indian restaurant. Excellent quality food, very well spiced. Chef took our order and cooked it to our personal preference. Brilliant service throughout meal; very nice atmosphere in restaurant. More ‘old fashioned’ than the modern kind of brasserie /​trendy Indian, but absolutely nothing wrong with that. I grew up in south and east London, and ate plenty of authentic Brick Lane curries during my formative years. ‘Maya’ isn’t as grassroots as those kind of hole-​in-​the-​wall curry houses, but it does does offer a wider range of dishes than you tend to find in rural restaurants.
Worth bearing in mind that many of their dishes are ‘fully flavoured’ and can be quite spicy. They’ll cook to suit your tastes, but I don’t usually go any further than ‘medium’!

ive not yet had the pleasure of eating in, however the dining room looks very comfortable and pleasant.
the food is sooo tasty. the portion sizes are generous and the price is very reasonable.
im a bit fussy when it comes to indian food, but the staff were everso helpful, and even asked the chef to come out and talk to me about the ingredients.
they suggested dishes that i may like, and they were right i did like them.
