I’ve never seen an antiques store so lovingly maintained. Every item they have on display has been clean and polished to within an inch of its life, then displayed in such a way you’d think you were entering a Tiffany’s boutique. There are so many fascinating items in here, from lighting, ornaments, silver pieces, antique jewellery, porcelain, glass, small furniture, brass and copper and paintings. The owner is quite happy to have you peruse around for as long as it takes you, every now and then giving you some history on one item or another. I love the idea of re-purposing for Christmas rather than buying from the high street! Please note this shop is only open on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

More like Acorn antiques… In the many times I have walked past this place, It has never occurred to me to go in, partly because of the window display that promotes at best a mish mash of lack luster ceramics that you could quite easily also find at a boot sale, and partly because I don’t dig the whole granny kitsch movement currently sweeping the county(said tongue in cheek) One day though, I had 30 minutes to kill before picking my son up from nursery on the same road, I relented and some bizarre car crash type urge had drawn me into this shop. Faith in my instinct was restored, and I enjoyed a inner giggle as an appropriately Julie Walters looking character appeared from the back of this tiny shop, and i half expected her to stand in a corner not knowing what to do with herself — as if waiting for a cue! If you have a bungalow to furnish — or you want to give this place a local cult following for pure comedy factor… then please, enjoy!
