After moving away to go to university the first thing I do when I get home is round up the girlfriends and head to xen for a meal. The staff are amazingly accommodating, we have had christmas parties there for several years and they let me bring down crackers and have 22 people on a table. The food is 5* quality and the portions are huge. Compared to most restaurants the food is very affordable and served extremely quickly by very attentive staff. Even when we havent booked ahead they always manage to squeeze us. A lovely ambience and a personal favourite.

Fro me the best place to eat in Truro because of its fantastic value. The starters are cheap & very delicous especially the Mongolian Lamb, Squid or Prawm Tempura and the steamed dim-sums. The main courses are free of MSG(John Lau the owner guarantees this) and they are all freshly and carefully prepared. House wine is very palatable and so reasonably priced. Overall one of the best eateries to hit Truro and so easy on the pocket and excellent quick service. Only one very small downside … very noisy when busy. Peter & Sue

Exactly the same décor and layout as the Xen in Falmouth with the same atmosphere and good service, the foods always served quick and the mains are well priced, as the Truro Xen gets alot busier I always feel a little rushed here but still enjoy it, watch out for the hot Saki though, it’s a killer!

If you’ve never experienced other noodle bars then you should enjoy the food here. This isn’t a japanese noodle bar and is better than the Waggamama chain. The food is tasty but portion sizes not generous like in London. Everything except the soup based noodles recommended(soup tasted and looked like it was reconstituted(50p packet mix) with ramen noodles which are basically super noodles), but down to preference I suppose. That aside, the sauce based noodles and the tempura vegetables were yummy :-) — — — — — — — — - We visited Xen last night during late night shopping and was VERY disappointed. They bring you prawn crackers which you pay £1.50 for but they were stale(probably last nights left-overs) so we sent them back. I ordered the chicken satay noodles — I was almost sick. This dish in the past, has been my favourite but the chicken was definitely on the dodgy side — it had that horrible taste you never forget! I didn’t bother asking them to replace it, we just paid and left ~ disgusting. Xen has gone downhill since opening, the waiter was miserable too — will not be going back!
