Kino im Industriegebiet von Tunbridge Wells. Mulitplex-Kino. Damals lief Charly and the Chocolate Factory which was awesomebut generally nothing special compared to smaller, family run cinemas with atmosphere.

You could be in any town or city in the country. Is this the future of cinema going? I hope not. Expensive ticket and food pricing. I’d rather watch a DVD or go to an Indie Cinema.

The 9 screen multiplex on the Tunbridge Wells Industrial estate does the job — but is hard to access for those without cars. Buses do run from the town centre, but they aren’t that frequent and not much use if you are coming from elsewhere. The cinema itself is quite decent, screen 1 is the largest with the best sound so if you are going to see something special, it may be worth picking a performance in this screen. The others are all fine too with good visibility from most seats(not the first two rows though). They have more luxurious seats for the middle rows of the screens, with more leg room — but at a higher cost. Seeing as the prices are already extremely high — nearly London rates because of the lack of competition, its not really worth the extra for these. For weekends, it worth getting there in good time for an evening performance, or booking beforehand. They have special screenings for over 65s, kids on saturday mornings, and those in which you can take young infants into. Finally, don’t trust the hotdogs — they sit on the rollers for hours!(I used to work there!)

In the same complex off Longfield Road as the local Bowlplex, the Odeon is an incredibly popular night out, especially with teenagers. This Odeon is quite large with 9 screens, all of which have disabled access. It shows all the latest films, with times and availabilty on their website, where you can also book your tickets to avoid disappointment. Upstairs theres a small ice cream bar also serving coffee etc, and place where you can buy sweets, crisps, popcorn, and a small variety of hot food, and also soft drinks. The screens are clean and spacious, with nice big comfy chairs. The only thing i dislike about the Odeon is its prices, although cinemas these days are so expensive, so maybe its the norm to be paying £8.50. Students can get a discount with a valid student card, and OAPs and under 15 tickets are also cheaper. If paying by card i’m pretty sure they have a small charge for each ticket, about 70p ish. All in all a good night out, easy to get to with regular buses from Tunbridge Wells train station, and places to go afterwards in the rest of the complex
