Lieblingssupermarkt in Tunbridge Wells.

A quick review of a grocery store doesn’t happen very often here in the UK, but this is my neighborhood store and I wanted to say something about it. I’m from the States, so shopping in a foreign country is always a different experience than what I’m used to, but I have few bad things to say about Sainsburys. First off it’s clean, the produce is usually in good shape, except their lettuce in their already made salads and salad bags are usually already starting to mold. Their meats, fish, etc. is usually organic and grass fed so this makes for a better piece of meat. I can’t complain. The eggs are not refrigerated like in the States, but I’ve never had a bad one yet and the taste of the eggs in the UK is absolutely splendid! They have many choices of already made meals. My favorite is their Indian pre-made dinners. Very tasty. Most of their other pre-made foods though are just OK, but lacking in salt and taste the majority of the time. The people who stock the shelves are always very helpful if I need help and are willing to go out of their way to walk me to the product I am looking for instead of just pointing out where to go. The one complaint I have though, and this may be because I am from the States and used to my checkers being quick and friendly, is just that, the checkers at Sainsburys are anything but quick, and friendly is not that common. In the States our checkers grab the product, slide it through as quick as possible, and bag it(or the kid that’s bagging bags it), all the while smiling & striking up a conversation with me. At Sainsburys the checkers are so slow that it feels like time has slowed down to a crawl. No wonder the lines are so long! And as for smiling and striking up a conversation; not happening. Well, occasionally it happens, but I think the mere fact that they sit in chairs all day instead of standing like the checkers do in the States, makes for a lazy person. But like I said before, I’m from the States where everything is quick… My conclusion; I’ll keep shopping at Sainsburys Supermarket becuase It’s my neighborhood market and I can walk there. If there was a Marks & Spencer closer though, I would shop there more often instead.
