I live close by and its a great place to go for a nice walk, small play area for the kids, also the railway that normally runs twice a week, at the moment the lake doesn’t have that much water in as earlier this year was emptied to do repairs on the dam, the work now has been done and is filling up naturally, will be around 2012 before completely full again. see some pics and details at my site at

I agree with marg — a great place for a day out, whether you want to picnic, see or ride the trains, bring your boat or just walk your dog. There are two places for refreshment, a book/nic-nac store(inside a train carriage), plus a toy shop.

Chasewater Railway, along side Chasewater itself, which besides being a local pool/lake and reserve water for our local canal, is a country park, local craft centre(inc a micro-brewery called Beowulf, ) a play area and much more. It is a fabulous place to relax, get something to eat, walk around the pool(approx 3m), watch the sailling club, speedboat racing, watersking, take a train ride or just sit and watch the swans, geese, ducks and more unusual birds that sometimes visit. The trains run regularly and both deisel and steam locos run and has 2 really good cafes(either end of the journey). Its run by volunteers and they do a wonderful job, with Halloween and Christmas specials with various special days throughout the season. I would recommend this place for any family for a good day out, let the children bring their bikes/scooters or just walk around the lovely area.
