These are concerts aimed at little ones. They’re for 3 – 5 year olds, but in reality slightly younger and slightly older children go along as they accompany their brothers and sisters. They are concerts performed by members of the CBSO, but have their focus on children. They’re well put together and are always based around a theme. The next one, for example, is themed obviously on the Olympics. The choice of music is fun and combines well known tunes with classical pieces. Children are encouraged to come down to the front and join in with actions, marching, dancing etc. The presenter, Catherine, is particularly good and I think my daughter is a little in awe of her. They last for an hour and beforehand in the foyer children have the chance to make things to take into the concert. At the end the children can go down and speak to the musicians as well as have a go on the instruments if they want to. They happen every three months roughly, so you get 4 a year and are well worth going along to, especially at £5 per ticket.
