Good for a few drinks out at night but there are better places.

The manager of this bar is one of the rudest people I have ever met! I went in with a couple of people that suffer disabilities and she refused to serve them saying they had too much. That a bar manager cannot see the difference between a person with a speech problem and one who is drunk says it all about this place really! Her manner was awful and she has no communication skills whatsoever. Its a shame as the rest of the staff have usually been fine in the past. This happened a while ago now but to my surprise she is still there. I certainly will never return to this place while she is still there and as I am heavily involved in Disability networks will continue to advise people to stay away from this place. It is disgraceful the ignorance still shown to people with mental and physical impairments!

I was enjoying my night here and chatting with friends, having a drink which were reasonable. Outside it was advertised the pub was open till 3am, however, all of a sudden the music stopped, and we ere hurried up to leave, the time was only 2am, when I asked why this was, they said that the custom had dried up. I asked can we finish our drinks, a doorman said yes and take our time. My friends and I decided to sit outside with our drinks and a cigarette, after a couple of mins a doorman came up and told us to leave and tried to take our drinks, he gave us literally 10 seconds then took away our drinks we had paid for. We were ushered away and I was not very happy. The lady manager was there, ignoring the situation, she just wanted to shut!!!

They do serve food during the day in this pub, just the normal sandwiches and jacket potatoes but I wouldn’t advise eating here, in my experience the food is dry and you have to wait too long for it to be served. However it is not a bad place to go at night, the dancefloor is a decent size, there is plenty of seating, it gets busy and there is an adequate selection of lagers & bottles. On a weekend night it plays the normal cheesy pop mixed with dance music. There are several picnic style benches out the front which means this pub gets busy in summer days/nights which I think is the best time to visit the Postern Gate.

This is a trendy pub in Warrington town centre — far enough away from the notorious Bridge Street to avoid most of the trouble caused by lager louts and junkies. It is a recent-build pub, in that it wasn’t converted from something else and is not old enough to have been gutted and restored. It was actually designed this way! It is a large floor-space, mainly open-plan site catering for the younger element. As the adverts say — music, DJ’s, quizzes etc. There is a large car park with plenty of clamping here notices, one of the first places in the area to get in trouble for semi-legal clamping — a long while ago. Not really my scene, but I have been known to visit for the quiz nights, until we were banned for winning too often! Beers are reasonably well served, but nothing special. Large outside area with many tables and benches — excellent(and full) during summer.
