Lovely food, if a little cheesy(literally) sometimes. Not your average veggie rubbish either. Solid and varied dishes, without spilling over into pretentious ‘for the sake of it’ food. Really good value and pleasant place to sit down and eat, inside or outside. Loses one star for slight lack of organisation when it’s busy and seeming failure to allow for the fact that humans reproduce and might have children.

Brilliant vegetarian restaurant nice food and even though it may be hard to find a space it is worth it if you can get in.

The Good Earth is a veggie institution! And though there are no meat dishes, I believe anyone who likes simple, tasty good food would enjoy eating here. The quality is consistent and the service friendly and helpful. The food is so tasty and the atmosphere so convivial that this would make a very nice place for a first date. As Impavidus has mentioned, the quiches are sublime. The salads are numerous, the soup warm and nourishing and there is lots and lots of choice. They take card payments(there may be a minimum, I cannot remember). Hot chocolate is very nice! I like to remind myself every once in a while that this place is here and when I can, I can come and have my cockles warmed.

What a sublime place! The Good Earth is a vegetarian restaurant just off the High Street in the beautiful cathedral city of Wells. The restaurant is sandwiched between a Good Earth shop and Good Earth grocer, so you can fulfil your veggie/vegan dreams before and after partaking of your meal. The selection of dishes is excellent. Quiches are simply magnificent and main courses at long last(and a rarity) demonstrate that vegetarian food needn’t be a tasteless stodge, but can be stimulating, with a variety of interesting textures and a delicious combination of flavours. The restaurant(self service) gets very busy and it may not be easy to find a space but it’s well worth a visit to complement your tour of this delightful city. Shame there aren’t more vegetarian restaurants like this around.
