Doctors Tonic

Part of the Green King chain, but definitely seems to have its own little atmosphere going on, very cottagey, very nice, very full.
Outdoor seating, good for long summer days, indoor seating/​pool tables/​quiz machines/​pinball, good for shitty rainy days (especially if your an old man)
Band nights are good, definitely recommend heading upstairs to the green room, very kindof family atmosphere.
not for families, for people who like loud music and talking to drunk people.
But the people are nice enough; only time they really do anything clubby/​dancey is on band night, live music is usually pretty average but its always a laugh.
Gets a little loud and buzzy on a friday/​saturday, as is to be expected of us young folk, good for big groups and all ages really, not really big for dancing, more chatting and getting drunk.
Foods relatively good, and pretty fast. Pretty good for families during the day.
Staff are almost too friendly, might end up taking one of them home with you if you’re lucky (Lock up your daughters ;))

Fool-​proof (and old man proof) local pub perfect for after work drinks, can’t go wrong with a glass of wine for £2.80! The garden is lovely in the summer but the cosy corner sofas are lovely when it’s a bit nippy too.

I love the tonic, great pub, friendly and efficient staff. There’s a large beer garden out the front which is perfect for sunny days. If you like live music they have bands upstairs on the weekends. I always pop in for a drink when i’m in wgc.

The Doctors Tonic is a weird name for a pub but inside it’s pretty normal. Drink prices are pretty standrad (hovering around £3). There are two pool tables which are a bit on the pricey side ayt £1.20 a game plus you have to put down a £5 deposit on the cues. The actual pub is quite large and spaced out nicely, the outdoor area is large and great for thos sun shine filled days.
Food here is your standard pub affair and due to it being a chain pub the prices are pretty good with the quality being pretty average.
There is also a little room on the next floor called the Green Room which can be rented out for parties but is mostly used for gigs for up and coming bands or local talents. Ticket prices vary but are usually quite low and sometimes some real gem of a band can be found.
In all a good pub to relax at, probably the best in Welwyn Garden but that’s not saying much as there is little choice

The pubs in welwyn garden city town centre are not great, I guess this is the best of a bad bunch. That said, I would rather go home and have a drink there than in any of the pubs locally.
it’s all a bit average really, they do have live music sometimes but the bands are pretty rubbish mostly and I just feel this place lacks any atmosphere. There is a pretty big car park so that’s good, that’s about all there is to it really.

As pubs go in Welwyn Garden City this is probably the best.
It is a nice enough building and atmosphere but is a bit of a nothing pub.
It has a beer garden which would be pleasant if it wasn’t in a car park.
They have live music sometimes (upstairs in the green room) and cheap beer offers. They also do food. One big bar downstairs. BBQ’s in summer.
Only one of three pubs in the town centre it was originally a hospital hence the name.
