The Red Lion

I have to admit, this is not my usual pub of choice. When you walk in it has that typical old working mens club vibe.
That aside the pub serves great food, the BBQs are my favourite!
If you’re looking for a cheap pub that plays all the sports on TV then this is for you. I went with a friend to watch the football and have a couple of beers. Overall it had a nice chilled out vibe, unlike some of the city centre sport bars which can get a bit overwhelming at times.

Every time I have visited The Red Lion, I have always had an enjoyable experience. I am already familiar with some of the staff that work at The Red Lion and they have always made me and my friends welcome.
I attend The Red Lion at least once/​twice a month and never have I been disappointed. They do have a car park on-​site but if there are no spaces, you will have to park in the side streets.
The Red Lion is a great place to be when watching live sports and there is plenty of atmosphere at the pub. There is a small room you can hire out for a get together or small party. At times you can get that feeling of being crammed in if the room is packed.
But the food does make up for it and the reason I regularly visit The Red Lion is because of the food. Both the lamb and chicken dishes are lovely and they also have mixed BBQ’s with chicken wings/​legs along with sheekh kebab. There are vegetarian dishes available as well to order.
A highly recommended pub with great food and great service.

There are some good indian bbq’s in the area and this is definitely one of them.
First time I went here, after hearing the word on the street about this place being good. The look of the place is very similar to the vine, with rows of tables. The ordering system is neat, you place your food order and they give you a buzzer which will buzz when your food is ready. I enjoyed the food, fish tandoori is nice (collie fish used) however it was £6.99 which is a little steep. We were told on Fri and Sat nights the waiting time for food is typically 1 hr but they were extremely busy.
Overall great experience, good food, will mark them down 1 point for the waiting time and for being expensive.

Good pub, nice friendly people in here. not much room for any parties etc that you might need to book. Has a car park at front. Shelter also for smokers on the front of the pub.
