The food here is pretty standard pub grub for the UK. Overall, based on the food, the pub could get a third star. The reason I can’t rate it higher is customer service. The owner has a contentious relationship with the neighboring hotel. His gripes about the hotel may be legitimate but it seeps into his attitude toward customers. Initially polite, over time(if you are staying in the area), it becomes very obvious that he wants to attract a local clientele and not so much travelers. The problem is that this is a hotel next to Heathrow Airport. In London. His customers are likely to be people traveling on business. The other issue I have with this place is he advertises Wi-Fi but will resent anyone that comes in with a laptop and needs to plug in. Typically, people traveling on business and looking for Wi-Fi will also look for electrical outlets. The owner will ask you whether they have electricity at the hotel you’re staying at and goes on to explain that electricity is expensive. No denying that fact, but if he’s advertising Wi-Fi and is next to a hotel that attracts business travelers it’s par for the course: most of the people you see going into this pub are clearly looking to eat and get some work done. What makes matters worse, in my book, is I’m the type of person that is not keen on using any restaurant facilities or amenities without patronizing the establishment. Not one visit to the place(was there about four or five times over two weeks) on my part has been an exception — I have always purchased food or beverage here, at one sitting I ate both lunch when I got there and dinner when I left. All that said, once it became clear to me that business travelers are a pest to the owner and that adverts that suggest this is a place where one can sit down, plug in, and manage business while having a meal are only meant to get you in the door to spend a few pounds I decided I’d rather go to restaurants at Heathrow or Central London to work. That’s why places like Costa or Nero are so popular with business travelers — these pubs, like Kings Arms, are not culturally suited for the ambitions they harbor. The pub is fine for those wanting to watch football or rugby with some pretty loud people(this is also par for the course with pubs in the UK but when you hear customers complaining about it and the complaints falling on deaf ears you quickly realize the purpose the restaurant serves). Best to go in here for a quick English breakfast or drink and no more. Given that there really is no real substantive local culture in this village overcome by a growing, major international airport, it is doubtful this pub will last very long or that it won’t be purchased by someone else who may or may not perpetuate the same issues. You can find other pubs of similar and better quality nearby but you may decide to go here just to save time. It’s too bad the owner of this pub is not too keen on your visit if you’re not a local.

I travel into Heathrow frequently for business and usually stay nearby. I just found this clean little pub ate there for the first time today. The cod and chips were fresh and perfectly cooked, with peas and salad. The price was half of other nearby pubs. My companion had the steak and ale pie and was equally impressed. The only thing missing is a dart board. I will be back again and again. Excellent!

3 taps all serving a Fullers pride that was very obviously on the turn! Its such a nice looking pub which is why it was such a shame about the bad beer. An Indian run traditional looking pub is a new one for me!

As I was walking down Bath Street right next to London Heathrow Airport I stumbled upon this establishment after having one too many Scrumpy Jacks Cider(Not the sweet kind) at the White Horse just a couple blocks away. At first I was skeptical because there was just a few guests but after ordering the fresh cod fish n’chips for 10 Pounds I’m glad I stumbled in. This place may not get the visitors White Horse gets but the Fish N’ Chips was so fresh I wanted to check in the kitchen if it was sliced up from the tank upon my order a few minutes ago. It was also the largest piece of fish n’ chips I’ve ever seen ! I’ve never called Uncle when eating Fish N’ Chips but I couldn’t even finish this bad boy. It was served with traditional fresh peas and chunky chips. It was so good it made the Malt Vinegar taste bad. Another thing I enjoyed was catching up with the old timers in the bar as we attempted to solve world peace.
