Came here the night before a friends wedding which was nearby. I ordered the Roast(meat that day was gammon). Modest portions but was really really tasty. The only points lacking where that the Yorkshire pudding was a little too well done and so was quite hard. Could have been more gravy too. Otherwise, I couldn’t fault it. Solid roast dinner. Wait staff very polite and attentive. I would recommend.

Dinner in the Grasshopper was very disappointing. My wife’s asparagus soup while creamy and flavorful was grossly over-salted. My squid rings were good. I ordered steak and kidney pudding and was brought steak and kidney pie. When I complained I was told it was the same thing rather than receiving an apology and an offer to replace it with an alternative dish. The pie crust and kidneys were good and the whole was flavorful. However, the beef was tough and contained too much gristle. In a pie like this, a better quality beef cut should have been used and it should have melted in the mouth. My wife ordered the poached salmon special. The salmon portion would have been adequate as a child’s portion. Finally, my wife ordered a bread-and-butter pudding. In my experience that should have been swimming in a rich custard. It was dry and the quantity of custard served on the side was totally inadequate to compensate. While the price was reasonable, I would have preferred to pay more and had better food.

It has sheep grazing across the road! And a lovely garden at the back! And plenty of parking(which you need because it’s not that near the town)… The food isn’t the best, but the surroundings are lovely and so is the pub. It’s quite old and traditional, with an oak frame, and a lovely fireplace inside for those cold winter days, as well as a nice garden for those warm summer ones.

My best friend had her wedding here, the building is Tudor and there are lots of original oak beams and wood panels making it feel regal. the wedding registry was lovely and well decorated and very well organised. I found the staff helpful in the bar afterwards on hand with more champagne and regulary handing out canapes. They were also really friendly and made friends with my baby girl very quickly. A very lovely day

The Grasshopper Inn is an excellent place to gather the clan for Sunday lunch. The inn was recorded as ‘The Plough’ way back in the 13th century. The current building is a mélange of a rebuilt early 18th century core with 19th century accretions and an early 20th century Edwardian makeover. Sunday lunch can be chosen from an ‘à la carte’ menu or picked from the carvery. Either option will provide you with excellent choices, beautifully prepared and presented. This is English food at its best. The quality here is solid, reassuring and never disappointing. Service is crisp but friendly — we were there with a bright and chatty young nephew who was mercilessly indulged by the staff! Drinks choices are hugely varied and include all the standard lagers and beers you would expect along with local(Kentish) specialities. As a place to end up at after a few hours morning walk, the Grasshopper Inn is ideal. I wouldn’t recommend a long walk afterwards as you will be stuffed!
