Having been meaning to visit Tarantella for years and years I finally made it and was not disappointed. The business is located in a street full of restaurants but has been there for many more years than most. We arrived without a reservation on a busy Saturday evening and were greeted by a very welcoming and helpful front of house staff member. She explained they were fully booked but could fit us in if we could be finished before the table was next booked for — not a problem. We were seated at a lovely table for two near the window and service was friendly and efficient, something many businesses struggle with when they are truly busy but we felt well looked after throughout. The food arrived in a very reasonable time, was delicious and clearly freshly made(see my pictures). The décor is airy yet stylish and authentically small-town Italian. The business is family owned and lots of Italian can be heard between the staff members which adds to the general sense of authenticity. Prices are very reasonable with our main meal for two with a side and two drinks coming in just under £30.

After a few reasonable experiences, a bad one came. The Calzone pizza, was, after a good starter(sardines) a mistake. Way to much extremely strong tasting ham and no other ingrdient besides the cheese. I could not finish it. The stake was gorgeous. So have stake etc but don’t eat Calzones here. Hope the quality rises again…
