I’ve walked passed this café several times and always forget it’s there when I want something to eat. Finally I did remember(thanks to bother Cornerstone and Europa being closed at the time) and paid it a visit. Then the next day, went back for a second visit. «English food, homemade» it says in the window and it certainly is(although the Thai curry on the specials board may have been stretching the«English» description a little bit). Anyway. Bubble and squeak with bacon and a fried egg the first day, tasty and hearty. Too full for one of the many desserts on offer — must pay more attention to the menu! Second day and some proper planning! Picked a lighter dish to start — cheesy scrambled egg on crumpets — great to warm you through in the cooler autumn weather and then on to bread and butter pudding. Made with a malty bread, this had a really nice combination of sweet and savoury, well worth the extremely low price of £1.50.
