We had a fun experience at the Bulls Head during our recent council trip to the UK. Our group of 8 came for dinner. It was great that they were able to seat us quickly and the waiter was prompt to greet us. From there, things go remarkably slow. We ordered drinks. They took a while, but there were 8 of us. After dropping them off, our waiter took our orders. We didn’t go to crazy, half ordered the lamb and half ordered a meat pie. Time begins to fly. About 35 minutes later, our waiter informs us he put our order in but didn’t link it to the table, so just needs to ‘verify’ what we ordered. More time passes. Our waiter brings us olives and peppers to apology for the wait. He comes back to reconfirm the order. Food finally arrives! I will say the food was solid. I enjoyed the lamb, but it did have quite a bit of fat and bone along side it. The olives and peppers were good. The food was hot when we got it, so at least it wasn’t sitting the entire time. Prices seemed reasonable. Overall, might go back if I was in the area but would make sure I had time to wait…

You know what’s sad? This is by no means an amazing pub; in fact it’s pretty standard. Still, after 6 months I’m already craving some hearty pub snacks like the kind I had here. Sadly we yanks just can’t figure out how to make pub food, no matter how we try. They’ve got a pretty basic steak n’ kidney pie, along with a mini pie sampler that was pretty sweet(chicken /leek, steak /kidney, lamb, etc). They have the standard list of bitter and ciders along with an okay selection of wines. The burger was excellent, and the chips are okay; there is better out there, but they are good to hold you over. The staff was very friendly and courteous. One of my coworkers ordered an iced tea, and i was excited to see the server’s reaction. She just thought about it for a minute, then said«I’m not sure» and went back to check. Whether she was being polite or seriously had never heard of ice tea, it was nice of her not to lay down some cheeky British humor(though the rest of us would have gotten a kick out of it). The location of this place is really quite convenient as it is right next to the Handforth station. I have no idea what else you would do in Wilmslow other than grab some pub food, unless of course you own one of those beautiful houses out there. So stop by if you need some pub grub and don’t want to battle your way into Manchester for some Mr Thomas’ Chop House.

Just reopened after a much needed re-furb. Much better more staff and think they must have undergone some retraining. However still the yob element. Looks as if as before a weak managment policy may undo any money spent
