I love this place. It’s not going to take you long to visit this place but it’s well worth a little walk to have a look. This is a little piece of subversion and that’s what tickles me so! As you may have gathered already, the architect Wren, was a pretty clever chap. He had a revolutionary idea for The Guildhall which meant that it would not be necessary to place pillars under the ceiling. Much debate ensued and it was impressed upon Wren that he must place pillars there. So, he obligedbut the pillars do not reach the ceiling. Possibly the wittiest building I’ve ever seen. And it’s pretty glorious anyway.
Prince Charles and Camilla tied the knot here and at Christmas there is a delightful manger put here, or used to be!
