This is a charming country pub/restaurant by the River Thames in south-west Oxfordshire. It is close to Oxford but surprisingly little-known, possibly because of its remote location — you have to drive to get there. It has a lovely garden — not entirely suitable for small children, because of the water — which you can eat in on pleasant days, and the inside is spacious and recently refurbished after the 2007 floods. Food is of good quality, and reasonable value, and bookings are not usually necessary but a long wait at busy times can attest to how popular the place is with those who know it. Bed and Breakfast is available at competitive rates, and it would make an excellent base for journeys into Oxford or out into the Cotswolds.
