Good sorted store, the staff has always been very friendly. Next time I’m over in UK I’ll visit it again.

Possibly the most useful shop in Woking, as it is the new(as of 2008) home of the Woking Post Office! A gigantic selection of magazines on all topics, including my favourite crafting section(Burda style, Sewing today, …), a fairly good variety of books, greetings cards, stationery(in the basement) craft supplies, children’s books, and a few sweets! One of the largest W.H. Smiths I’ve seen.(most are in stations though, so this one has a distinct advantage)

WHSmiths is a reasonably sized store in the Wolsey Place shopping Centre and it stocks a good range of items including books, magazines and newspapers, also cards and stationary. Pretty easy to negotiate with lifts and stairs between the two storeys. Downstairs is now where they have rehomed Woking Post Office which to my mind is a major mistake as it has taken away from Smiths and made going the Post Office quite an unpleasant experience. There is not enough room available and it is crowded and uncomfortable making it very difficult for people that are disabled, or have prams or children with them. Always busy when I have been in there, the queues are often long and it takes quite a while to be served. I always avoid going downstairs(unless I have to go to the Post Office) and will go to another shop if what I want is down there. Upstairs would have got four stars but I am afraid downstairs took away one star.

what can you say about WHS? the one in woking is on two floors, great for study books, but i prefer waterstones for books in general, WHS is good for stationery(best place for filofaxes etc), cards and magazines that you won’t find elsewhere.

This store has two levels and stocks the expected range of books, stationery, magazines, art and craft materials and some software. The store is well organised, so it is easy to find things within it, and there is a clear sign which states what you can find on each level by the staircase. They do have a habit of moving things around though, which makes it slightly more difficult to find things if you always expect them to be where you’re used to. The move of the Woking Post Office to the lower concourse has been controversial, and arguably not beneficial to either the post office or Whsmiths. The service is generally slow and crowded, with few windows open at the same time. It is also poor to access for less able people, such as children or the elderly. The staff have always been friendly and helpful to customers.

This shop can be accessed wither via Wolsey Walk or Commercial Way. Housed over 2 floors, with stairs and a lift between them. Contains all the usual things you’d expect to find in this store. The lower floor now houses the Post Office, which is the reason I have not given Smiths such a high rating. I just think it is the worst place possible to house a post office. It is not easily accessible, especially by the very young or the elderly, and the queing interferes with the downstairs shopping!
