Brewers Sewing Machines

I love this little family-​run shop that specialises in sewing machines, spares and repairs… it’s a real gem.
I adore unique shops that are bursting with character and have a story to tell… and this shop certainly is all that, having been in Blakenhall for over 50 years.
The owners told me that back in the day there were 14 sewing machine shops in Wolverhampton alone, now they’re the only one for miles.
The Brewers are lovely and so knowledgeable! I wanted a sewing machine as I’ve started customising my clothes (it’s cheaper than making them from scratch!)… what they don’t know about sewing machines isn’t worth knowing! I was under the illusion that sewing machines just stitch in a straight line, but apparently most of them nowadays are electronic and you can download graphics then just programme it to sew something arty!
The shop’s also packed with all sorts of useful bits ‘n pieces, like thread, needles and scissors, so is perfect for art/​textiles students and people who sew as a hobby.
