The Thornescroft is a very traditional pub/restaurant. It is silver service which means that the staff are generally very attentive. However, I was not hugely impressed with the food — I went for Sunday lunch — and have noticed that recently portions have diminished in size. I find the décor somewhat dated, and there is a lot of chintz and flowery wallpaper, which is not to everyone’s taste. There is a large car park, which is useful, as it is in quite a rural and isolated area. Sunday lunch is about £17 per head, and for the meal we received, I felt that this was overpriced.
