The Black Tiles has everything you need, an excellent range of Bitter’s including 2 Guest Ales, a good range of wines and spectacular food. Everything is home made with fresh produce, the staff are very friendly and attentive, and the menu has a good Vegetarian selection. The special offers can vary, but at present(October 2011) there offering any bottle of wine(excluding sparkling and champagne) for £10 on a Wednesday evening after 6pm. On Thursday’s, any pint of Bitter for £2.50, and on Saturday 2 for 1 on Mojito’sagain both after 6pm! This pub is child friendly, plenty of space to run around and enjoy the scenic gardens which has just recently won Martlesham In Bloom competition, plenty of parking front and back. I’d recommend this pub to anyone, whether your wanting a light lunch, romantic meal for 2, or a big celebration party. They’d cater for anyone. Definitely the best place in the local area. :)

As of 1 April 2011, the Black Tiles is no longer be part of Yeo Group; it is now run Greig Barnes and Adrian Carr who will operate as Black Tiles Pub Company. We’ve always enjoyed going to the Black Tiles but hadn’t there recently so thought a meal was in order. We went on a Sunday night around 8pm and it was clear we had missed much of the rush for the day which suited us perfectly as we really just wanted to have a quiet meal. My fish pie was certainly homemade and was delicious. It was accompanied with perfectly cooked green beans — crisp and yummy! Paul had gammon, eggs and chips and despite having a very health appetite it couldn’t quite eat it all but enjoyed every mouthful. Lovely service, chilled out and attentive staff. Very good wine list with several wines available by the glass and lovely Adnams beer. Don’t know why we left it so long to go!

I like the Tiles, although not a local it’s a good stop off or meeting point for me. It has extensive comfortable seating inside & out, patio heaters, and a great garden & children’s play area, also plenty of parking. I visited for lunch yesterday, and although the menu is a little limited if you want a cheapish lunch, it has alot to offer otherwise. I opted for soup & roll, and it was very nice. I have been many times before, and will be back I’m sure.

We visited the Tiles on Monday night as we fancied some wine and cheese :-) It was very quiet and very bright in the bar so we sat in the lounge. The red wine selection was quiet small, and we selected a Brouilly(which we were told is also being delisted — Get some whilst you can!) and a cheese platter to share. The cheeses were excellent, and the wine was similarly good. The Lounge was very clean and very well looked after. Service at the bar was efficient and friendly, even when I ordered liqueur coffees just afer they had cleaned the machine… oops. The only critisism I could make was that they were in a little bit of a hurry to close up — but as they were very quiet, and Im rather well known to them I didnt mind at all. Very good, and Im sure i’ll be back again!

Similar to its sister restaurant in Felixstowe(The Alex) has a good menu accompanied by helpful staff but what the Black Tiles is lacking in scenery it makes up for in parking and spacious seating. With its location close to the A12 it is easily accessible for most and the menu has a wide variety of dishes to cater for most. It can get a bit busy but due to the seating arrangement you never feel swamped. In the summer time the tables on the patio and be hard to obtain but overall a nice place to relax and enjoy a meal with family or friends.
