Plenty to do, lots for the kids to have fun on, but it is horrifically overpriced and they really need a reduced rate for entry after 14:00. At the time of writing(2013) it’s £10.95 for adults and £10.45 for children with a small discount on family tickets. Then if you want to eat there the food is also far too expensive. Otherwise, the children really enjoy it and have a great time. Generally clean, nothing is too tired or constantly ‘closed for essential maintenance’

GreenWood Forest Park is a rather unlikely find in the North Wales countryside. It’s an eco-theme park which tries to show that you can have fun without using much power(other than that which you provide yourself). It’s NOT a park that pushes the green message at you at every opportunity and this I like. It’s that fact that it’s understated that makes you think about it. Home to Europe’s largest Green roller coaster this place is well worth a visit. The coaster itself works alomg similar principles to the mines, power is generated by people being carried down as the coaster is lifted back up to the start. The coaster then runs down and the next group of people can be taken. Other self-powered rides include a boat ride(where you paddle/pull yourself along with ropes) and a great toboggan run. The other major attraction is the bare-foot walk where you can get back to nature via a barefoot walk through various types of ground including sand, cobbles, mud, water and straw. Immense fun and strangely refreshing. Wash facilities are provided(cold!). Toilets are clean and there is a café offering good value basic meals. Wait times were not too bad. I liked the fact that this was a simple park and suited to children from toddlers to about 13 years old. I suspect the optimum age range is about 3 – 8 years. Unlike the traditional theme parkes queues are minimal(no more than a 2 minute wait for anything) despite our visit being on a May bank Holiday weekend in bright sunshine! Please note — do as the website suggests and if you are using a sat nav start to ignore it when you see the brown tourist signs — if you don’t then you end up going through some very steep and narrow roads that are not suited to tourist traffic. It will take about 5 minutes more if you follow the tourist signs but you’ll get there in one piece! Recommended.

This is a ‘green’ theme park which is the first of its kind in Wales and one of the most impessive/expansive in the UK and even in Europe. It apparently has the longest gren rollercoaster in Europe, which is quite an achievement. A visit to this park is fun for everyone, as there is a variety of attractions and the walk around the park is enjoyable in itself. The park is situated similar to other theme parks, with various paths leading from one, so that you are constantly faced with making a decision on which way to go. Throughout the park there are aspects of nature available to be seen, such as different tree types and some rabbit hutches, and a point to look out at Snowdon and the other mountains. There are a number of attractions: the rollercoaster is actually quite impressive. It works on the same principles as the slate quarries, which is a pulley system that uses the weight of the down load to pull the other load up. To activate the rollercoaster the vistors must walk to the top of the hill and enter a cage, which pulls the actual rollercoaster up to the top as the cage goes down. If the rollercoaster is full of passengers then it actually generates electricity rather than using it. There are signs on the way up the hill that explain everything, and it’s very interesting. The 2nd big attraction is the big slide. It’s 70 metres long and you embark on it sitting in a plastic sledge. The journey to the bottom is scarily fast, but it does involve walking up to the top rather like the helter skelter slides of yesteryear. Still, it’s an exhilerating ride. My absolute favourite of all the attractions was the boats. You sit in a metal canoe and use oars and rope to pull yourselves along the ‘river’. I thought this idea was so simple and perfect that I could have happily stayed in that boat all day going round and round the same river. Finally there are some go-karts, a bouncy castle type object, archery, several childrens’ play areas, some diggers and some stilts, which were huge fun. Although this theme park is suitable for the whole family, younger children will perhaps gain more from the visit. I think chldren older than around 8 years old would think the nature of the park was uncool and unexciting.

This is an outdoor adventure for the whole family. You follow a trail around the forest which leads you past loads of activities like archery, stilt walking and peddle car driving. There is also the Great Green Run which is a 70 meter sledge run which the kids and adults will both love. There is also a giant bouncing area and a Green Dragon roller coaster. There is loads more too. I would highly recommend this for a family day out but would advise you to take your own food and to wear old clothes because its almost impossible not to get muddy.
