STAYAWAYIFYOUWANTTOSLEEP! Just stayed at the Bootham Tavern and had the same experience as the previous person on here. We were kept up until 6am with the owner and i presume family partying all night. We had my elderly mother with us who was in a room of her own and was actually frightened. Doors banging, shouting, music all night long. Rooms were £50 each which is cheap but the rooms are basic with dirty carpet and no matter how cheap a room you should not have to put up with that. I am very easy going and don’t might people coming in late and being a bit loud while heading to their room, we’ve all been there, but that was just ridiculous. In the morning i went to complain, got the cleaner as, surprise surprise the owner was probably still sleeping it off upstair when the rest of us had to get out!!!

The Bootham Tavern is located right on the city walls. It is a pub but also offers accommodation. They only have a couple of rooms but they are clean and tidy. Rooms are very basic and have double beds, TV, Tea /Coffee and shower /toilet. The room I used was £25 per night per room based on single occupancy or £22 per person based on two sharing. They do not do breakfast but they are loads of cafes near by. The rate is very good in comparison to local hotels. They only have enough parking for a couple of cars and parking is around the corner.

This pub has a pool table in the back and features karaōke nights on a regular basis. The pool table is surprisingly good– the felt is in great condition and the cues are a-okay. The clientele and the staff are incredibly unfriendly to non-regulars though– be wary! The beer is decently priced(though pretty standard– fosters, carling, etc., with only a few real ales on tap) and there are snug booths in which to hide away. I’m not sure if they do food, but the best Indian in town is practically next door so it’s never been a consideration! :)
