After walking the Roman Wall we end on the river and low and behold there was a cute little café on the river with outdoor seating and in an old part of a tower of the wall. It was a cute place for drinks or a small bite on the river. Especially if its sunny, which it was our day. I ordered a shot of espresso. They didn’t carry soy milk which was disappointing. I get annoyed when independent cafes get all negative on people going to chains instead, but hey I can’t drink milk! Its not my fault! I ordered a early gray tea cake, which was like a English muffin with currents. It was tasty but not something I’d seek out. It was pricy but your paying for the location and the atmosphere.

Dyls is a lovely stop when walking along the River Ouse or the City Walls. We discovered this place after walking part of the wall and looking for some coffee. It’s situated in an old tower connected to a bridge. The real selling point is the outdoor seating area by the river. You can watch passers-by who are touring the city or let your eyes follow the boats, ducks and row boats on the water. We decided to have drinks and an Earl Grey tea cake. It came toasted with jam and was really nice. Inside is a bar area and if you follow the spiral stone steps upstairs, then there is a small seating are great for tea, coffee and food with a view outside. If it’s a rainy day, then this would be a tight place to come with friends. But on a nice day it’s perfect for sitting outside with friends. And the place is popular with cyclists.
