Took my wife and sister in law for lunch between christmas and new year so the town was quite busy. We did try a couple of places but very long queues so decided to try here. So glad we did !! The girls had the York burger with fries — all home made and with great chips. I had the tuna melt with a bowl of soup and it was delicious. Because I had the healthy option I finished with a generous slice of carrot and walnut cake :) Including numerous pots of tea the whole bill was around £30. I thought it great value and will definitely go again — but as a first choice.

We were wandering around the shambles and decided we needed a refreshment. My then fiancée(presently my wife) spotted Georgina’s and it looked welcoming from the outside. So, in we go, get seated in 5 minutes, upstairs. The ambience is excellent with a great vibe and a nice crowd. The service is top notch too and the people are very friendly. I had a fruit scone with cream and jam and boy was I full! The cappuccino was great too and so was the earl grey tea. All in all a thoroughly memorable experience and definitely recommended!

Very nice afternoon tea, and the cakes they had all looked incredible. If I hadn’t been so ridiculously full from our tea, I’d have tried a cake! The scones were perfect — not at all dry, and the sandwiches and desserts quite tasty as well. We had a very nice table by the window and enjoyed people watching as well. And, it was a bit off the main street of York, so it was far less crowded. Great time, and would definitely recommend it!

Saturdays in York are crazy busy… everywhere was packed… apart from this place. because its not on a main street… its still busy. but not overly. When we walked in it everything was very quaint, with nice rounds tables with table cloths, a very generic tidy tea room… the waitress was very down to earth and helpful… After pawing through the menu, which was plentiful as here they offer yummy milkshakes, tea coffee followed by cake, breakfasts and jackets… I decided to chose a simple toasted tea cake with a Cinder toffee milkshake. The milkshake was really tasty with the just the right thickness… the homemade tea cake was burnt ever so slightly on one side but it was still really good. especially with heaps of butter and homemade raspberry jam. my friend had ordered tea to go with his which was presented nicely… but he became very envious of my milkshake once he tried a swig of it! Overall this is a really nicely priced café. with great service… the only reason why I haven’t given it 5 stars is because on my way out of the bathroom there were lots of staff gathered, arguing about overtime. which I thought was unprofessional. and the fact they were blocking my way to go back downstairs. hopefully this is resolved next time…

A fine place to sit upstairs and people watch while taking a break from the throngs down below. Being a tea room, the tea is of course good. However the desserts, and the cakes in particular, really shine. Both the coffee & walnut and Victorian sponge are frakkin’ delicious.
