I tend to use this as more of a take out place then a sit in. I find the service quick and they often have a good range of snacks on sale

DON’T GOHEREIFYOU’REVEGETARIANORHAVEALLERGIES I was told by a member of staff at this specific Pret that they have two places to put food tongs(to pick the food up with), and three tongs to put there– so always the nut tongs, vegetarian tongs and general tongs are touching one of the other two. Which means that if you have a nut allergy or are vegetarian this is a really bad place to eat due to cross contamination. Don’t risk it. Additionally, their food labelling is not very clear and I have had to ask staff to check simple things that should be printed on packaging several times. Lastly, it markets its food as healthy, but Panorama did an investigation and found that McDonalds was healthier than Pret. Don’t let them fool you into thinking this stuff is healthy just because it’s in pretty packaging.

One wordchaotic! It’s always busy in here and very hectic. Seating is very uncomfortable. probably so they dont have people hanging around once they have finished. The food is expensive but the coffee is good. If you must go to Pret a Manger try the one in the designer outlet. twice the size and practically empty! They dont have a huge variety.

I’m not really a fan of chain restaurants, but I do enjoy a good lunch at Pret a Manger. The food is fresh and you can have comfort in knowing you’re not eating a load of processed food. It’s all healthy, simple and tasty. The York chain is very busy all the time, so you need to go early to get a seat if you plan to sit in, or even sit out on parliament during the summer. I like getting my lunch as a take away and going to the local minster gardens or castle museum and eating a healthy baguette there.

Great food! I’ve not been in Pret a Manger for several years buty gave the one in York a go last week and was pleasantly surprised! The sandwich I had was excellent as was the coffee! they could even tell you the exact date the coffee had been roasted on! The sandwich though was seriously one of the best, tastiest sandwiches I’d had in a long time, better than anywhere else nearby! It’s not cheap and my lunch came it at just over a fiver, but if you are feeling indulgent I would really recommend this place! There is plenty of seating upstairs and when the weather is good they usually have an outdoors area with chairs, tables and parasols.

like any other pret, it has nice décor, but the kind of seating that you don’t get to comfortable in. the food is pricey but consistantly good, coffee is good good place to go when shopping alone, the stairs are tricky to get up, when you have a tray of food and drinks. the toilet is for both men and women, very basic, clean in the main areas but gruby looking in the corners. its an odd space but never out of toilet paper!
