I found this place after hours of searching online. It checked all my boxes for location, cost, room presentation, access to river walks, parking and so on. The staff are really friendly and treat you like honoured guests. Our room was prettily furnished and the only negatives are that we look into a busy(and noisy) road and street lights shine straight into the room. The blackout blinds help enormously in mitigation. The walls are a bit thin and you can hear people in the room above loudly enough to keep you awake and/or wake you up. There are remains of some of the old York Priory in the garden which is really cool. Breakfast is from 0730h to 0930h and there is a good menu of varied cooked dishes plus cereals, fruits, yoghurts, bread etc. The weekend we stayed there is a minimum 2 night booking rule — not sure if this is year-round or not — and we booked through the Visit York site. Our superior double room was £158(room not pp) including breakfast. There is also a residents bar. We’ definitely stay here again.
