Sushi(specifically salmon skin, sashimi & unagi) aside from shawarma is my favorite cuisine on the face of the planet and after not having any for quite some time, thanks to the fact that I was TRYINGVERYHARD to eat local flavors, I was dying to add it back into my meal rotation(we have already planned to get sushi the instant we get off the plane in Los Angeles when we get back to the states). I googled sushi places in York randomly out of curiosity… I was told that sushi isn’t a very popular treat over here so I had to see for myself. I was shocked to see that there were only THREE Japanese restaurants that popped up on Unilocal, including Yo! Sushi… A sushi restaurant that offers orders on a conveyor belt… As well as made to order offerings. I was a TINYBIT hesitant to go, and even just thought about agreeing to take fiancé to get pizza, but we wound up wandering over and giving it a go. What I loved: — the IMMEDIACY of getting food! The second you sit down, you can STARTEATING! — the water spigot was right next to our seats, we sat at the sushi bar… So we had easy access to all you can drink water. — I was also sitting next to the tub of ginger and wasabi you can help yourself to… Score, because I ALWAYS find myself asking for plate after plate full of GINGER. — The sushi bar seats were actually pretty comfortable for not having a back rest on them. — When we ordered hot menu items, they were tackled and given to us in next to no time. — Salmon Skin is on the menu!!! — Modifications can be made to your orders if need be. — The staff was very friendly. — The sashimi I ate was super fresh, I wanted to EAT. IT. ALL. — I was told that every 48 hours they get a new shipment of seafood — The sushi makers time stamp all the food they put on the moving bar, so they know what time to take it off if no one snatches it. I find it hard to believe that no one would! WARNINGS: — You can EASILYEATTOOMUCH. Yo! sushi definitely knows this… As delicious offerings keep passing by your face like a game. Sure, I brought fiancé with me, but he honestly ate 3 of the tiny plates of food and I ate oh about 6−7… I lost count, and to be honest, my bill wasn’t exactly pocket change! — This is NOT an all you can eat restaurant. Well it is, but the only set prices on the menu are the ones denoted by the color of the plates! With just TWO warnings and lots of POSITIVEATTRIBUTES, eating at Yo! Sushi is a must if you crave sushi like I do… For a sushi aficionado like myself, that’s saying something… Oh and I ordered my special salmon skin rolls(no rice, no sauce, no vegetables)… 6 of them, lol… And they definitely filled my crunchy salmon skin void, but would have probably been better with a little sticky rice… Again though, no serious complaints! I’d go back today if I could… But I won’t drag fiancé back, as he really didn’t eat much(he had some salmon rolls and chicken katsu) and left hungry, unlike myself.

Very good. My son’s favourite restaurant(mainly on account of the conveyor belt carrying the food). If you know the chain, then this is their normal implementation. That is: a bizarre alien landing vessel from planet Tokyo installed in sleepy York. If you don’t know the chain then you have to go in and try it. Expect roller-coasters. Incidentally, the food is pretty good too. Not cheap, but reasonable quality and plenty of variety. The seaweed salad and aubergine salad are superb. Staff were exceedingly helpful and friendly.

I’ve been to the Cambridge yo sushi so I know how this place is supposed to run. I was very disappointed to eat here. At first i was excited because this yo sushi has the sumo sushi Sunday where it’s all you can eat for £19.95. There wasn’t many people yet, but even less sushi on the belt. There was a total of maybe 2 – 3 rolls and the rest was edamame, salads, and desserts. I’m not sure what was going on but I left irritated and still hungry. The Few rolls that were on the belt were sloppy. The miso soup was alright. The waiting staff was great. Hopefully it was just an odd circumstance because I look forward to trying different yo sushis while traveling the country.

Just so you know, Yo-Sushi and Greggs are huge chains in UK. I saw several of them while I was there. At Yo-Sushi, Japanese words are spread around in the stores. That’s something similar to what we see in Seattle’s sushi bar. The food didn’t look particularly good, but UK people don’t seem care. Their Asian restaurants are pretty bad. He he. Tampopo was the same. In those restaurants, you don’t see any Asians. You don’t see any Asians in their kitchens either. For example, in Tampopo, the foods were really disappointing from my point of view, but there were many people(locals) and they didn’t look to have problems with it. I believe they don’t know good Asian food. Their Asian foods are pretty bad, way worse than in Texasn. I had to run for Phở John’s on Texas Ave. on Monday to refresh my taste after eating very disappointing Phở in Tampopo in Manchester. That’s pretty funny. But the Chinese restaurant in the China town was excellent, I mean great. That makes sense because 95% of the customers were Asian(probably Chinese). Manchester restaurants were pretty much segregated. Ha ha.
