My wife and I ate at Gladys’s for lunch. We ate early as we wanted to avoid the busy crowds on the lunch hour(we were also extremely hungry). The service was excellent, atmosphere was cozy, and a historical setting. My wife had the grouper with rice and vegetables gluten-free and prepared to order. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and accepting of her gluten-free needs. I had the curried chicken with rice, sweet potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. I utilized the three famous hot sauces(mango and mustard) that are provided to make a tasty addition to my lunch. Gladys and her sister were there and were extremely friendly and accommodating. Wonderful Gladys Knight and the Pips, Tina turner, and Frank Sinatra music played in the background. As this is an extremely popular restaurant by both locals and tourists alike, I would recommend going there early to avoid the crowds.

Came here to see what all the hype was all about. Being on vacation from the states, I was hoping to get an unforgettable local dining experience. Deeply regret that I came here. First of all, our waitress Jen was not authentically friendly. Never did I see her smile(maybe because she had braces on) — but still. I could tell by the tone of her voice and body language that she wasn’t a people-friendly person. My other gripe is that the portions are so small(thought we ordered from a kid’s menu) and the prices are OUTRAGEOUSLY high. **Owner: #1 It would be beneficial to give Jen a refresher course in customer service skills. #2 Please make your portions bigger. **Cruise passengers: Avoid this place and head over to nearby Cuzzin’s Restaurant instead. Their portions are bigger, prices are reasonable, food is tastier, and customer service is way better.

This place was absolutely amazing, starting with our server Pauline. My husband being a server stateside, we were very amused at how succinct and matter of fact she was with the guests. She made wonderful recommendations. I started with a cup of conch chowder. It was hands down the best thing I’ve eaten on the island. The Wahu was delicious. My husband had Mahi-Mahi that he loved. If you don’t eat anywhere else on the island, you have to give them a try.

One of the tour guides suggested this place. He stated his family owned the café. I had the Curried Goat. It was not spicy. The meat was rather fatty. The plantain was not sweet but good. The rice and beans were okay. The mac and cheese was delicious. The service was good. However, the server was very slow. My wife had the grouper. This dish was pretty good. She ordered a side of plantain. I would suggest you don’t do that. You’ll only receive one plantain. It simply wouldn’t be worth the cost. It is a nice establishment and friendly environment. You will enjoy your meal.

We were on a cruise with a stop in St Thomas. We started with the jerk wings– best wings EVER! Highly recommend them! Then we had the jerk pork chops and the jerk mahi mahi. Both incredibly delicious! Only open until 4:00 so get here quick!

Very nice and easygoing café hidden in some of the oldest buildings on St. Thomas. Their food was mostly fairly standard American diner fare with some Caribbean flair. My brother and I got their whole avocado salads which were very good. Great spot for a quick breakfast or lunch while you’re in Charlotte Amalie, and it’s a good starting point for a tour of the whole shopping area of the city.

I was visting St Thomas for a family vacation. we decided to visit Glady’s. The service was very welcoming and inviting. Too bad I couldn’t say the same for the food. If you are a true island food lover this is not the place for you. I ordered the curry goat although it was cooked well the seasoning left much to be desired. The portions were ok. Its noting I would crave to go back too.

Everything was amazing! And the waitress was so nice and welcoming! I ordered the curry chicken and fungi-party in my mouth. So happy we ran into this café and got to try some authentic food in St. Thomas!!!

Based on the reviews by fellow Unilocalers, we had high expectations for Glady’s. We were immediately greeted and seated at a table. Shortly afterwards, our server approached us and asked if we’d been helped. He proceeds to give us history lessons and his personal philosophy’s, from Christopher Columbus to writing on my placemat. Yeah, weird. Now on to the food, the conk fritters were fried, greasy, batter. That’s it! No conk at all. The oxtails are more bone than anything. You get about six bites total. It was a disappointment to say the least.

The owner and the staff were great! They played with like he was family. The food was just ok. I had a fish burger that was bony and overly fishy. Sooo naturally I tasted everyone else food too since I was so dissatisfied with mine. After trying atleast 3 other plates the food is 6 out of 10 for me. Honestly unless you going to Blue Havana food on St Thomas is very sub par.

First let me say that the food here is delicious. It’s hard to believe that this place is hidden in an alleyway, but it is a place not to miss visiting. It is not cheap, so don’t come here if you think you’re gonna feed an entire family for Taco Bell prices. It was 7 of us and our bill came to $ 158(gratuity was already included). My party ordered Jerk Pork Chops, Stew Chicken, Oxtails, Roti, and hamburgers. I tasted everything except the hamburgers and can happily say that they were all very tasty. They have Coke products but do not provide free refills so be prepared to pay extra if you or the kids are super thirsty for soda. The water is filtered, so don’t be scared to drink it while you wait on your meal. I actually noticed they had a few $ 3 drink specials, so I got a screwdriver and my brother got something else(I can’t remember what he had). Both drinks were made very well and we enjoyed drank them up. The staff is great and I will go back the next time I go to downtown St. Thomas. Btw, they have free wifi. Whoo Hoo!

Cubano coffee is the best. Casual dining at its best. Was faster than I expected. Bagel breakfast sandwich is a good call. I will be back again.

Im only giving two stars because the staff was decent. This place is EXPENSIVE!!! For breakfast i had a fruit bowl $ 9.00 toasted bagel $ 5.00 my husband had Bacon and eggs two eggs and two slices of bacon with house fries and toast $ 14.00 but wait for it… two very very small lattes im talking maybe 6 ozs. each and a coke $ 25.00(mind blown.) So for two people our breakfast was $ 28.00 im ok with that. But $ 25.00 for 2 coffees and a soda Crazy! The waitress and all of the staff was excellent. The restaurant was very clean and they have A/C. The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming.

We came in on multiple recommendations but they were sold out of their signature dishes… We ended up ordering some appetizers of chicken wings and conch fritters. Conch fritters were pretty much all breading and not much conch meat. Chicken wings were delicious and we loved trying all their hot sauces on the table. I REALLY wish we got a chance to try their chicken curry!

This place was a little bit hard to find but totally worth it. I have come here both times visiting st. Thomas and it is always the number one recommended place by locals. Chicken curry– delicious, comes with plantains and rice. Chicken curry roti– same as the roti but with salad instead of rice and plantains and more like a curry burrito. Delicious, especially with the different sauces they bring. Goat– good if you like goat Mango bowl– omg is the mango here more delicious or what??? Maybe it’s the season, but whatever it is it is UH-MAZING! So glad this place was recommended to us both times.

Clean and air conditioned, Glady’s Café is quite possibly the most comfortable place I visited during my short stay in St. Thomas. We received great service and the breakfast was satisfying. We loved their selection of hot sauces so much that we bought 5 bottles and had them shipped to our home which arrived in excellent condition. I highly recommend having a casual meal here if you’re staying in the area.

*DROOL* My mom and I shared an «Olé Wife» fish plate here. So good! I had mine with pepper sauce on the side and it complimented the flavor so well! I love spicy. The plantain was a little to well done and they didn’t give enough(according to my mom, as she ate it) and the rice and beans were a touch dry. You have to walk down a little side thoroughfare to get to this restaurant and while it’s in a nook and cranny, it’s actually quite a large establishment. The banana daiquiri was also a BIG Winner in my book. Service was fine and friendly, a touch odd though with the man who kept adjusting the silverware on the tables every 2 minutes. They should give him another task. Overall, very pleasant experience and would go back in a heart beat!

The Jerked Kingfish special and Curry chicken was nothing too special. Portions were decent. Overall the food was good, but the service was limited. We basically had to flag down someone to get the check. If it wasn’t for the Unilocal reviews and rating, i’d think this place was a tourist trap.
