Restaurant was around the corner from our apartment. The service was good but the food was ok. We shared a steak which was a little over done and lacked flavour. The salad was good and fries were crunchy. Wine was good and price was reasonable for what we had.

I only ordered takeout, of their massive 550g entrecôte steak. Seriously, it was fantastic. 4.5 stars fantastic. It was so large that I could make 2 meals out of it. A fantastically cooked piece, with great marbling, juicy char, and wow. The chimichurri sauce pairs with it like Sonny and Cher. I wish I had gone back for it, a close walk from where I was staying in Recoleta.

El Estrebe es una parrilla en la zona de Recoleta, pensada principalmente para el turista extranjero. No suelo elegir parrillas cuando salgo a cenar afuera, pero debo admitir que estuvo bien. El lugar es grande, tienen unas cuantas mesas. Está decorado con elementos y estética propia de gaucho, como toda parrilla. La atención la verdad es de lo mejor: enseguida te traen la carta, te piden disculpas si se demoran en atenderte, te preguntan cómo querés la carne y enseguida traen el pan y la bebida. Los mozos son muy amables. El servicio de mesa incluye pan(integral, común y grisines) y cuatro aderezos para los mismos: chimichurri, salsa criolla, queso crema con verdeo y unos porotos en conserva. Muy ricas las cuatro opciones y el pan calentito. Los platos son enormes, ideales para compartir. De algunos se puede pedir media porción. Pedimos como entrada unas mollejas; en general las achuras no me gustan mucho, pero estas mollejas estaba cortadas bien finitas y crocantes, me encantaron. Como plato principal pedimos ojo de bife(a punto) y como guarnición morrón asado con ajo. Estaba muy rico, la carne muy tierna y una porción bastante grande, incluso para compartir. Los platos son sólo el corte de carne, la guarnición hay que pedirla aparte. Para tomar tienen vino, gaseosa y cerveza. Lo bueno es que tienen cerveza y gaseosa grande. Como todo restaurante, y encima turístico, es caro. Pero aceptan tarjeta. Para los amantes del asado, es una buena opción para darse un gusto cada tanto. Buena carne y buena atención.

A party of 7 of us dined at El Estrebe last night and had a nice time. We have ben coming to Buenos Aires twice annually for at least a couple of weeks and have dined at a great many parillas. In my opinion this one is perfectly good. We have been better and worse. Food: 3 stars — I ordered my bife de chorizo«a punto,» but it was a bit overcooked. C ordered lomo, but the waiter didn’t even ask her how she wanted it cooked. We ordered papas fritas and grilled vegetables to share and both were good. Service: 3 stars — Just average. After dinner I ordered a shot of anis but the waiter forgot. As I mentioned earlier, the steaks were overcooked. Ambiance: 3 stars — Typical parilla with a lot of memorabilia and artifacts decorating the wall. The dining area is over-lit, making it feel more like a cafeteria. This is not a romantic place. No candles; no soft music. Instead, waiters were huddled in the back watching the River-Boca game. Would I come back? Based on the high cost and average rating, I’m afraid we would not.

One of the best«parrillas» in buenos aires. The service was amazing. Located in one of the best neighborhoods of Buenos Aires. I had the«bife de chorizo» it was perfect.
