The worst restaurant we’ve experienced in Argentina! Service: We were seated for more than 25 minutes and no one came by to service us at all! They came by the tables next to us multiple times but completely ignored us! Just wanted to see how long it would take them to come to our table but it just wouldn’t happen! Finally being thirsty and hungry I walked over to a waiter and got his attention. Food: Our salad was decent. My husband ordered tenderloin with Malbec reduction. Compared to all the other steaks we’ve had in Argentina this was subpar. Not much flavor at all. I ordered golden fish with mango chutney. Fish which was suppose to be grilled but it was fried until it was crispy… when I first saw it I knew it was going to be dry… extremely dry. Mango chutney was very suspicious as it didn’t taste like mango at all and it was light in color. I took only 2 bites… and was done! This was the most expensive meal we had in Argentina and the worst.

My wife and I wanted to eat great meat, what Argentina is famous for. The front desk girl at our hotel recommended Tio Querido. We went that night but got there at closing time(about 11PM on 12÷26÷15). We were told by the owner that they only take reservations and made one for the following night at 8PM(most of the good restaurants don’t open till 7PM). The following day I visited the front desk of a hostel near our hotel and was told La Rueda 1975 was a better restaurant, where the locals went. We skipped our dinner reservations and came here. We arrived at 7:30PM and were seated immediately at table 42, the back, right corner. The place was packed by 8PM and we noted a huge line outside the restaurant. The tables were covered with cloth tablecloths, the lighting was perfectly dim, and the seats were real wood= romantic. The waiters speak Spanish, English and Portuguese and the menu is in English and Spanish. I ordered the Ojo De Bife(ribeye steak) with a champagne mushroom sauce and the wife ordered the Bife Chorizo(beef tenderloin) with a salsa hongos mushroom sauce. They brought a nice bread platter with a wonderful cheese spread before the main course. Both our steaks were cooked perfectly medium, thick, and tasted excellent. They brought some wonderful potato puffs with our main course which melted in your mouth. We paired the steak with Quilmes Cristal, a refreshing Argentine pilsner. The meat was everything I’d hoped for, you can’t find that kind of meat in the United States! The entire meal cost 561 pesos, or 151.62 Brazilian Reals, or 40 dollars! My only complaint is that the waiter was a bit absent at time(I had to find him to get our bill), but that was understandable since the restaurant was so packed.

We came here with high expectations for great steak and were not disappointed. The man had the beef steak and I had the filet mignon. The beef steak came with these little puffs of heaven which turned out to be fried potatoes(see pictures). The food took a long time to prepare but it was worth it(and they also had a great bread basket to nibble on as you wait). Great atmosphere could come with your significant other, family or friends and it can work. Also there was excellent live music and great service by the staff. Price was high for Argentina but moderate for the US(two large portion steaks with salad and bottled water only coming out to 25 dollars each!). Definitely recommend to all looking for a great meal.

Order your filet«medium well» if you don’t like a red center medium was way undercooked for me. Staff was a 10. Helpful menu and English speaking. Menu go for the fish, while they offer a sect steak nothing beats the sea. This chef does a fantastic job with his food and menu.

We asked our hotel for recommendations and they recommended this place over Aqva. Apparently the locals like this place more. Our hotel made reservations here and when we got to the restaurant, we were immediately seated. We ordered the Dorado Tropical and Surubi Garganta del Diablo. Between the two dishes, I prefer the Dorado Tropical. It has mango and mango chutney. The sweetness helps with the grilled fish. They were able to get a nice sear on the skin and the fish was cooked well. I think the mango slices complimented the dorado more so than the chutney, but to each their own. The surubi was surprisingly good. It’s quite a meaty fish but combined with the sauce they made, the fish wasn’t dry at all. I think if they served this fish as a filet, it would be dry and less appetizing. The mozzarella, tomates, and camarones(shrimp) all complimented the surubi. They gave tons of shrimps but the texture was similar to the surubi. Hence I think they added palmitos(hearts of palm) and mandioca(cassava) chips for contrast in texture. The colors of the dish were vibrant red, very appetizing. Service was excellent. They made accommodations for the vegetarian in our party. When this place gets crowded, they are a little slow on the service as they are probably a little under staffed. The staff spoke decent English. As we did not get a chance to try Aqva, I can only say this is a solid restaurant and highly recommend to others if you’re looking for fine dining in the area. This restaurant deserves a solid 4 star. Do not be swayed by the current 3.5 stars it has on Unilocal. It is highly rated on tripadvisor.

A decepção ficou apenas no principal: a comida.

Não gostei da carne, estava dura e sem sabor. Também pedimos um peixe recomendado pelo garçom, chamado Pacú, além de sem sabor causou uma indisposição alimentar. Também não recomendo o arroz, duro e oleoso. Que decepção! Estava lotado. Ambiente limpo e agradável.

Situated at the beginning of the foodie row, the setting is quite pleasant and romantic. Their famous fish roll was also quite good with a glass of house wine. To find a decent place in Puerto Iguazu is definitely a pleasant surprise.

Excelente restaurante. Pedimos o bife de chorizo e o ojo de bife. Comida deliciosa e bom atendimento. As carnes estavam ótimas. Batatas fritas deliciosas. Boa carta de vinhos. A sobremesa estava sensacional(panquecas de doce de leite). Preços razoáveis. Nosso jantar ficou em 300 reais para duas pessoas com vinho e sobremesa. Recomendo!

This place was largely unimpressive. They got off to a great start with one of the best salads I’ve had in Argentina(arugula with grilled onions and roasted red peppers), but it was all downhill from there. I ordered a ribeye medium rare and it was actually undercooked! It came in at less than what I’d usually consider rare and was unevenly cooked. Further, it was incredibly gristly and hard to eat. The mashed potatoes on the side were bland as could be, and we were never offered pepper for our table to add some flavor. The service was also poor, especially at the end when we tried to pay. There are a dozen places in Puerto Iguazu just like this one. I’d advise trying another one.

Our taxi driver recommended this restaurant and he was spot on. it was great. we had fresh fish and the T-bone steak. my daughter had the sorentinos and said they were the best she had had… very good desserts and service was nice. It did become quite busy and there was quite a wait for a table during our meal. it is a popular place.

Widely considered by the locals to be Puerto Iguazu’s best restaurant, La Rueda did not disappoint. I was in this small, sleepy Argentine tourist town for two nights to visit the majestic Iguazu Falls and wanted to treat myself to a nice dinner. I arrived at La Rueda after a brisk 15 minute walk from my hotel. There was a nice outdoor patio area with a few diners, but it was when I strolled in to the actual restaurant that I realized I’d be in for an amazing dinner and not just a «nice» one. I was seated quickly and promptly since I was dining solo. A quick observation of my surroundings confirmed I was the only solo diner, but I didn’t mind. The clientele was probably 95% tourists and ranged from families to couples and/or groups of vacationing friends. The wood ceilings, white walls, and warm lighting helps give La Rueda a very inviting atmosphere with a hint of romantic intention. There are what I can describe only as tribal art painted onto the walls that helps remind you that even though the restaurant is great, you are actually in jungle. All these elements combine seamlessly to create a unique dining experience that I probably won’t be able to replicate unless I find myself in Puerto Iguazu again. One of the cons of dining solo is the amount of food that can be ordered. When visiting a restaurant, I like to try as many things as possible, so I thought to myself, «a salad, an appetizer, and an entrée won’t seem too excessive for one person.» I ordered before I saw a father/son team next to me split an appetizer and a steak. I blame my consumerist American upbringing and wanton love for food. Heck, I was on vacation so might as well enjoy myself right? A caprese salad is the same pretty much anywhere you go in the world. In hindsight, I should’ve tried something more exotic, but I was longing for something familiar at the moment and the caprese salad definitely gave me the comfort I was looking for. The tomatoes were fresh, the mozzarella cheese had the right amount of chewiness, the basil leaves imbued a fresh herbal taste to the salad. There were also olives in this particular caprese which only made it better because I am a fan of the olive. The olive oil came on the side which was nice because it allowed me to control how much oil I wanted to drizzle onto the salad. The appetizer I chose were a selection of Argentine pies/pastries. I’m not sure how to describe it, but three little breaded things just suddently appeared on a plate. One was filled with ground meat, another was a vegan option, and the third was a sort of cornbread. I really enjoyed the vegetarian empanada-esque thing, but the others were just ok. For my main course, I ordered a rib-eye steak. It was delicious. Perfectly medium rare with the right amount of juice and tenderness. I opted for a chimichurri type glaze and it gave my steak a little hint of spiciness which I enjoyed immensely. The potatoes were au gratin I think and probably the best potatoes I’ve ever had anywhere. I paired my steak with a glass of malbec(oh how Argentinean haha) and ordered a bottle of sparking water in hopes that the carbonation would help with my digestion. I desperately wanted to try a desert, but didn’t even bother to glance at the desert menu because I was D-O-N-E. Nothing more could have gotten into my stomach. The service was great. Silent, almost invisible, but there when you needed them, the wait staff was impeccable all night long. The total bill came out to 321 pesos which is an extravagant and almost exorbitant sum for one diner to spend in Argentina, but the US equivalent was $ 36. I would have spent easily over $ 100 on a similar meal in Los Angeles so I left La Rueda with no regrets. I’m just sad that I don’t know when my next meal at La Rueda will be.
