I lived in the apartments above in the tall building, and was so curious about this place as it is always PACKED at lunch and dinner time! When I had a chance to try it I instantly figured out why– fresh, efficient, local and friendly staff! This place has became the go to place for my friends and colleagues for a catch up! Even though I don’t live there anymore. The biggy is my favourite as I cannot chose and I am «greedy» lol, so I always go for the one has a little bit of everything– beef, onion, egg, beetroot, cheese and so much more that I can’t remmeber try their chips as well, they are golden crispy as they are fresh cooked and thick cut. Sometimes it’s very hard to bite the burger as they are generous in size, but you can ask the staff to cut them in half for you, which makes it a lot easier. I’d suggest come for early lunch, late lunch or early dinner if you are in a rush, so you don’t need to wait for ages for a table. The outside seating areas are quirky and fun! They are doing 10% off for students! And they do phone orders. Street parking is available along Rundle street and Frome road, then walk down to synagogue place:)

Great fast service, reasonable prices and friendly staff. But for my experiences so far, that’s where it ended. I found their burgers to not be anything out of the ordinary flavour and presentation wise.

My vote for best casual dining burgers in Adelaide. Overall winner is Bread & Bone.

Great burger place easily accessible just off rundle st — fast food that doesn’t feel unhealthy(providing you skip the chips!). Generous juicy burgers on big wheaty buns with flavourful sauces. Simple menu but well cooked — I usually go the Holy Smokes or Hot Chicky, as a lover of spicy food. Chips are great too with tasty herb seasoning — get the smoked chilli mayo on the side(it is only mild). Also they are licensed which is a bonus — a beer or cider washes things down nicely! Service could be quicker but seeing them cook the burgers from scratch in the open kitchen makes up for a little extra time.

Fancy Burger is my favourite of the hoards of burger joints that have taken over Adelaide. Why you ask? They’re locally owned, they source all their meat, fresh produce, beer and cider locally AND they offer 10% student discount. Oh and they support local community organisations through their Fancy Friends program. Located down Synagogue Place, they don’t get the foot traffic that their competitors on Rundle Street do… But gosh they are worth seeking out. My fave choice is the Mini Smokes. A baby version of their Holy Smokes burger, the balance of their house made smoked chilli mayo &BBQ relish is perfect with the juicy beef patty, crunchy wholemeal bun and fresh salad. That usually does me for lunch or a light dinner, but if I’m feeling indulgent I grab some of their steak cut chips on the side… That seasoning! I really have no complaints, the staff are ridiculously friendly, the setup cool and the food quality. Defs worth the price point. May be cool if they could rid of Coke and Pepsi and source drinks locally too… But that may be cost prohibitive.

Great burgers I must say. Unfortunately the place suffers badly from a lack of seating. It isn’t that much fun to find the only place available to eat your burger is on a bar stool next to a bench top that is also by the main entrance. Doesn’t make the ideal dining experience to have patrons brushing past you every few seconds. But I guess it’s not fine dining you’re after in this case; it’s a burger bar after all. The burgers are great. And they’re great value too. So go for the burgers. Just don’t stay for the fine dining experience.

Been here a few times. Tasty burgers, although a bit pricey. HUGE servings of chips, however. Nice atmosphere at the restaurant with different adorable retro themed outdoor dining booths. Menu could do with a bit more variety but still enjoyable nonetheless.

I’m not usually so brave as to head out to a gourmet burger establishment but you know what? Of late, I’ve quite gotten the Bug. I came upon Fancy Burger’s small dynamic establishment at the end of Synagogue Place deep in the cool shadow of the surrounding buildings. Upon entering I was greeted in a friendly and upbeat manner and left to review the menu in my own time. Upon making my decision and placing my order I was served promptly again in a friendly upbeat manner. Service turnaround was prompt in around 3 minutes the complete order was served to me in one of the outside themed mini room, four of which line the northern Boundary of Fancy Burgers tenancy. The order in question was a Mini Chicken Delight and a small serving of chips finished with the customary for Thai segment Sea salt and Rosemary. The burger was fresh, ingredients were wholesome and tasty harmoniously melding in a symphony of subtlety hitting the right notes along the way. The chicken was moist and well seasoned, the bacon possessing a good balance of salty bacon goodness and contrast in its crispier texture with respect to the chicken. The vegetable components were fresh and well executed from the creamy avocado to crisp firm juicy tomato and lettuce. A well executed burger that puts in a solid effort. The fries were a little underdone being more soft than crispy and suffered from too liberal a hand with respect to seasoning. Having said that the value for money was on par with what I’ve come to expect from this segment with one caveat. The ‘Small’ chips here put Grillds large chips to shame. Not an insignificant thing for value conscience students in SA. Overall I had a pleasant relaxing late afternoon with a great SA business that produces fine fair. Granted there are a few slight areas to improve upon but I can honestly say I’m glad of the experience.

If I had ordered the burger instead of the steak sandwich they may have warned an extra star; however as my picture attests both the bread and steak where very vanilla with nothing special going on… Which is a shame as they appear to care about the quality of the food, have captured a vibe that works for them and a certainly conveniently located and open good hours.

I love eating here, and especially love the quirky trophy table numbers — I always feel like I’ve won something when I eat here. This time it was some kind of fishing championship, and last time I was apparently excellent at bowling! One of my favourite burger places in Adelaide(and I have tried a lot of burgers!), Fancy burger is a cute, eclectic little burger joint somewhat hidden down Synagogue Place, off Rundle St. There’s a varied menu with chicken, beef, lamb and vego choices — all offering generous serving sizes and reasonable prices. Every time I visit I plan to try something new but I always end up ordering the Legend… lamb and goats cheese is a winning combination, and the chips are some of the best around! There’s plenty of seating, and I love the little ‘room’ themed seating areas outside. There’s large tables for groups and I can see myself here for a late night snack with a big group of friends. And how can you not love a ‘fast food’ joint that let’s me have a beer or a cider with my meal? Yes please!

If you can find their little sign you’ll find this place off of rundle street beside Apple Bar. Its worth the walk from anywhere in town if you want a burger(do not, repeat DONOTSTOPATMCDONALDS!!). The menu is reasonably sized for an only-burger joint, and everything appears to be amazingly delicious. The sauces, yes, are a dollar fifty but worth every tiny cent. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, and they have the cutest outside seating on the planet. Take note that the Fancy Burger in Blackwood is nice, but there’s nothing like downing a few drinks at a rundle street pub on a saturday night and heading here for a tasty burger.

Fancy burger, where the burgers are. um fancy. I ventured into this lovely joint on a fringe festival day, tucked down an alleyway off Rundle street. The vibe here is very hipster street, like trying to be grunge but in a clean organised way, think friendly graffiti, and staff with inoffensive tattoos. But I am a bit of a hipster, so I shouldn’t complain. I ordered my partner a sunrise suprise, and customised one of the smaller burgers for myself, the staff member was very friendly and obliging replacing the meat with various vegetables. Our order arrived with our reasonably sized small chips, which value for money and taste on chip scale were high(chipability– 8⁄10), and a delicious cider. Yumm I love places that will let me have a cider with my beer and chips. The sauces were $ 1.50 each which was the major con here, as I love my chips to be at least ¾ covered in sauce. I’d suggest coming here if you’re budget allows you more than Hungry Jacks, but not quite Jack Ruby. So hit the road Jack and come to Fancy Burger.

New to the city, but have been around ‘down south’ is a the ‘Fancy Burger’ eatery. Tucked away at the end of Synagogue Place(Off Rundle St, near Pultney St). The design is nothing but ‘Eclectic’ with indoor and outdoor seating, even flip front booths, it’s just a different looking place. The food. GOOD. Fancy Burger use all fresh South Australian(or close) Local ingredients, Including beers, ciders and wines Thick cut chips with herbed sea salt start the taste buds watering. The Burger, I had the HOLYSMOKES,(100% South Aussie beef, chargrilled peppers, smoked chilli mayo, salad, BBQ relish) and it tasted great. Friends had THEBIGGY and they both commended on how good it was also. I will indeed be heading back to try some of their other tastes, many are not your average toppings.

I tried the double bacon cheese burger? something called that, paid 10.50 or11.50, and got what I think was hungry jacks’ quality. It was packed with two dry meat pies. I hope it’s only because I took out the burger instead of eating them at first time— and actually I don’t mind to do that next time because their interior is really fancy or hipster should I say.
