Sat outside under a blanket and heater and was super cosy. The service was fast and friendly. I had the brocollini and avo with poached egg on toasts and cheese and loved it, tasty, pretty and healthy!

Great atmosphere and plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Flowers, all yellow make a cheery addition to all tables. tables well spaced so great venue for conversations. Staff friendly and very helpful. Quiet in the late afternoon but getting busier as we enjoy our drinks.

So gosh this place has been around for a long time! Bit of an Albert park institution. It is big — big inside and loads of outdoor seating which is nice. But it still has a small café menu! We sat outside which was lovely and had a good coffee. My breakfast was fantastic — baked beans and chorizo in a pot with sourdough and feta on the side. Great combination of flavours! Service was good too!

Great atmosphere, great food! I had the chicken caesar salad and a mango smoothie, both were exceptional! Bec had the lamb wrap and chips, the wrap was very tasty by all accounts and the chips were to die for! Definitely worth a visit for brunch or lunch!

Not sure about this place. Been here several times as we have friends who live in the neighbourhood. Service is great. Happy, friendly, useful staff. Prices are average for a yuppie eatery in South Melbourne.

Scrumptuous and beautiful food. Wonderful service(if you are very patient and almost jump up and down to get their attention :) Lovely patio area for people watching in a relaxed atmosphere. Complimentary wifi. Diverse menu(all day brekkie) with reasonable prices.

Not even one star owners dog barking at front non stop customers walked onto other cafés I wonder if he will understand if his dog will ruin his café! I’m a dog lover but ambience over uncontrolled barking any day and to top it off male staff members reply was any given day you will see dogs all over the place! On up side owner removed dog after my complaint but ruined our morning by that time! Shame looks a good spot was going to be our regular!

Dundas & Faussett faces what seems to be ever increasing competition for the latte sets dollar. The neighbouring businesses have progressively converted into deli’s and cafes over the past few years. They don’t pretend to be something they’re not — offering up honest breakfast and lunches at a range of tables both indoors and out. The Breakfast Bruschetta at $ 14.50 is a hearty but healthy choice which is to me, their signature breakfast dish. Take the kids or tie the dog to your chair, it’s that kind of place. Couples looking for somewhere quiet or slightly more gourmet might do better choosing something a little further down the road.

I have visited this café/restaurant twice, hoping that it would redeem itself from my first visit, but unfortunately each time has been rather unsatisfactory. There’s one thing I hate when I go out to eat and that is receiving dirty cutlery and glasses with lipstick stains on them. On both occasions I received dirty glasses, not to mention grimy water bottles that obviously had not been washed and bleached in a while. The coffee was scolding hot with too many air bubbles; it wasn’t rich and creamy, but very watery and in my opinion undrinkable. The random menu selections throw me, consisting of breakfast, lunch and dinner offering a range of random Thai dishes amongst other items. The service is friendly, but inattentive once you’ve made your first order. The outdoor area is nice in the sun, but does not win me over considering everything else seems to be lacking pizazz. In my opinion there are much better places to go to along this strip.

I can’t believe Dundas & Faussett has only a three star average review, it really should be rated more highly. The food is excellent although I will admit I can’t stop ordering the breakfast bruschetta(slice of yummy toast with feta, pesto, tomato, avocado and bacon) and I was present one day when an unsatisfactory seafood salad daily special was ordered and reviled by a few different people. The outdoor seating is plentiful, with comfortable chairs and umbrellas, the view is of lovely Albert Park, the staff are exceedingly nice, children are welcome, and I think the coffee is delish, some of the best I’ve ever had. Then again, unlike most Melbournians, I am a far cry from a coffee aficionado.

Sunshine and brunch time in Albert Park, everyone is out with their kiddiwinks and doggies all dropping by for coffee and some food to fuel up for the rest of the day. The upgraded Dundas & Faussett is a great breakie stop, a top lunch place and by evening it transforms into an Asian inspired menu. We are ready for breakie as creamy coffees arrive and menus with plenty to choose from arrive. The babyccino looks very cute but I am happy with a big girls coffee as I debate — French toast, bagels, crepes, bruschetta, omelette. I feel a little bit fancy today so I go for a Thai omelette… read more at my blog

The place has a wonderful atmosphere — cool, contemporary and laid back. It was very busy, considering amount of people they were fast to bring out the orders. I ordered the Thai Beef Salad. The dish was full of flavour, well balanced, not too hot, not too sweet. It came with a large wedges of lemon to squeeze on the salad, not tiny ones like some places. Tasted vibrant, plenty of fresh coriander and Thai basil. Perfect amount of dressing, every salad leaf was coated but there wasn’t a huge pool of dressing left over at bottom. Beef slices were tender with a nice char on the outside. Well marinated and bursting with Thai flavours.

I think I’m a yuppie! I ride a scooter. I wear designer sunglasses. I like to sip on a latte. I eat here often and I enjoy it. Dam it, what have I become. Oh well, it’s time to embrace what I have become, wake up, get out of bed, sit in the sun at Dundas & Faussett, read the news, smile, talk, eat, eat some more, call it a day.

I’ve been to Dundas and Faussett three times, and every single trip has been on new year’s day. This may seem a little odd, but despite Melbourne being a city that brunches, you can seriously struggle to find somewhere open on the 1st of January. On the whole, I’ve found each and every outing to be largely unremarkable. Crawling with screaming kids, coffee that is neither here nor there and food that is just OK. But whatever. It’s open on new year’s day, okay?

You know, until I decided to write this review, I was always pleased by the mystery this café’s name inspired. Who was Dundas? Who was Fausset? Were they friends, lovers, partners, enemies? Many’s the Sunday afternoon I’ve sat there, enjoying my breakfast, pondering the question. But yes. This café, on the corner of Dundas Place and Fausset Street, is one of the good ones. And I’m not just saying that because they do breakfast ’til four PM.(Although, yes, that alone would endear me to them.) On most sunny days the café owner sits out in their spacious outdoor area, chatting and smiling at customers. At the same time, though, he’s not one of those clingy types who insists on being your best friend. The food’s good, although there’s nothing amazingly original there. It’s standard café fare, done well.

Situated on the corner of one of Albert Parks busiest breakfast precincts, sophisticated Melbourne hot-spot Dundas & Faussett always manages to attract the biggest trendiest crowds, daily. With reliable & consistent service and always friendly wait staff, you cannot go past the breakfast menu. Offering a variety of fresh seasonal produce, cooked breakfasts along with some traditional options such as bircher muesli and homemade porridge. My personal favorites and one that remains quite popular with the locals includes the farmers omellette and the breakfast bruschetta. Both incredibly satisfying, especially when accompanied by a good quality coffee! If you’re not keen to fight the early morning gym goers, cyclists on route or the mums & bubs, stroll down for the lunch menu it proves to be just as exciting with an Asian and Italian influence and regular specials updated daily. Alternatively, breakfast is served until 3.00pm. Portions are generous and not exuberantly overpriced considering its location. Despite being located in what can become quite a busy built up area, Dundas & Faussett offers a relaxed and laid back environment with a cosmopolitan twist. With ample seating inside and out, nabbing a seat in the sunshine on a Sunday afternoon makes the experience all the more enjoyable!
