I had the scrambled eggs on ciabatta. perfect consistency, beautifully presented! Staff are friendly and cheerful. I heartily recommend it.

Went for lunch the other day. Such a cute little café with a relaxed vibe. The food(beef burger for my hubby and the green mountain special for me) and coffee were awesome, as was the service. I would definitely come back to try some of the other things on the menu!

This is my favourite place for coffee in the New Farm — they use Campos coffee which is always excellent. The breakfast menu is impressive because it caters for everyone. It’s possible to piece together your own breakfast which gives Ponycat the extra star — not many places do this but sometimes you don’t want a huge meal. The meals are well presented, delicious and some are a little unusual. Try the ham, it’s a good alternative to the usual breakfast bacon. The service style is good — they ask for your coffee order, then come back to take your food order. Ideal for me, the avid coffee drinker which is my first point of call in the morning. Top marks for atmosphere too.

Love this place dined here a few times for breakfast and fall even more in love each time. They take much pride in their food and always make us comfortable while waiting for a table. Absolutely love the savoury mince was so delicious. Can get busy but definitely worth the wait. Definitely recommend heading there one morning for breakfast.

Had an awesome breakfast this morning at Ponycat! The place is quite small and I was worried we were going to have to wait for a table as we arrived at about 9.30am on a Sunday morning — prime breakfast time. I was pleasantly surprised when we were shown to a table straight away. The waitress took our coffee orders straight away and left us to it. We were given room temperature water which is always a disappointment for me, especially on a thirty degree Brisbane summers day, but all good! Probably the only negative thing I could say about the place. We had awesome food. I had the roma tomato special with feta, spinach and balsamic glaze on onion rye. So yummy and very filling. The coffee was also great. And everything was reasonably priced. Will definitely be back! Thanks Ponycat!

I had high, high hopes for Ponycat. Let me start by saying this place is really small. Our group of five had to be sat outside the café in a small alleyway with two tables pushed together to accommodate us all. There was a door blocking us from the street so there was no sun, it was quite dark and cold so atmosphere wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be inside. That being said, the waitstaff are lovely. We received our coffees quite quickly and it was pretty good. Nothing exceptional but not terrible either. There is no in hand menu, rather it is up on a board above the counter. Great if you’re sitting inside and can see it but only two of our five could see through the window at the board meaning everyone else had to go inside and stand next to tables where people were trying to enjoy their breakfast just to read the menu. I appreciate something a little different when presenting a menu but you need to make sure it works for the space and I’m afraid this probably doesn’t. But that is just my humble opinion. Some other reviewers loved it! The food took ages to come out. And thats okay, we’re a table of five but we weren’t checked in on to see if we’d like to order more drinks or just to see how we were doing. I don’t need to be babysat but I could have gone another coffee to tide me over if asked. That being said, the food was pretty good. I had the roast mushrooms on toast, we had two avocado smashes on the table, the benny burger and a haloumi burger. Only one complaint on the food from the whole table and that was the Benny burger was absolutely smothered in hollandaise. When he tried to pick it up and eat it he ended up looking like he was wearing hollandaise coloured gloves. All of us had to surrender our napkins. It was an extreme amount of hollandaise and really detracted from the burger. But that was the only less than good dish. Everything else was great. Another big plus for Ponycat is that they split bills. Hallelujah! Decent breakfast, reasonable price. I’d probably have another go at Ponycat.

What a great spot for some quality breakfast. Get here early as tables get snapped up fast but well worth the wait if you need to. Loved the eggs and ham with toast!

As a burgeoning regular here, I must say that I must have already eaten 4 – 5 times here within the month and I have not once been disappointed. I’m somewhat of a creature of habit so perhaps the main reason I haven’t been disappointed is because I always order the same thing — the Salmon Scramble. It’s a simple concept with smoked salmon sitting on top of scrambled eggs layered atop toasted bread. However, what makes this dish stand out is the balsamic sauce that’s drizzled on the side of the plate. Somehow all of these flavors blend together in perfect harmony. Top tip for someone new to the café: the menu is written across the wall that forms the outside of the kitchen. Take a good look first before sitting down at a table or else you’ll find yourself having to get up and look again. The wait staff is very pleasant and the overall ambiance is very funky. It’s slowly becoming my favorite place to spend my weekend mornings so say hi the next time you’re there!

Delicious food. It took a bit of time to get seated and we were starving from the walk, but it was a great breakfast place. Best dishes: –Leek and sweet potato pancakes with dressed leaves, served with eggplant kasundi and salmon –Omelette with chorizo It felt like a very indie, alternative place to eat, with many great flavor pairings.

I would probably have rated this place higher but stopping in on a Monday morning the staff seemed to be trying to play catch up from the weekend. There was slight confusion on weather it was table or counter service but once that was cleared up they were cooking with gas. I sat at an outside table to soak up the beautiful spring weather and the most perfect skinny cap arrived. I ordered the avo on toast with scrambled eggs. This would have been the perfect meal until some of the preserved lemon found its way into the eggs. I know this shouldn’t have bothered me but it did kind of like getting a mouthful of water when you think you’re getting vodka! Overall: delicious coffee, friendly staff and very well presented food

I love this place. And I’ve only been here once so far! :) Our waitress was one of a kind. We came here on a Saturday around 11 and it was actually easy to get a table for us. The atmosphere has an artsy vibe, they played some Indie Rock in the background and I loved it. Their menu is a little bit different to what I am used to at Breakfast places, and they serve breakfast all day long. I went for the scrambled eggs with salmon and salsa with a balsamic hint, which was quite unusual but sooo good. He ordered the chorizo omelette and I can tell he loved it, cause he was too quiet and too focused on his plate! :) I will definitely be back to try more.

I love the Ponycat Café for it’s coffee and fruit toast, whenever I stop in on a Saturday morning. The service is always friendly and accommodating, making me feel so comfortable. I love the fact that there is so much for me to read while I wait for my coffee. The tables have either magazines or the days newspaper to read as well as what’s happening in the music world around Brisbane. It is a great place for a Saturday morning, or any morning for that matter.

I have gone to try Ponycat a couple of times but it’s always pretty full. Happened by this past Saturday when there was a park right out front and a table free. Perfect. You know what else was perfect? Everything. I love me some good service. And by golly gosh the service here was great. The girls who took our coffee and food orders were chatty and friendly but fast and efficient. Love it. I also love me some good food. I usually go with bacon and eggs places because I just love it. But this time I went with new menu option sardines and danish fetta(I think, my apologies if I’m wrong there) and roasted cherry tomatoes on toast. It was great. Amazing even. So tasty. Definitely not overpoweringly seafood like you can often get with salmon at breakfast. Oh my gosh I want it now. It was served with a salsa that was tangy and great with it as well as some balsamic on the plate. So good. M’lady had something tasty as well but honestly I can’t remember what over my awesome food. Coffee was good too. I can’t have caffeine at the moment so got a decaf and it was mighty tasty. Didn’t come out too hot, yet managed to stay that temperature for ages. It was great! Oh my gosh I nearly forgot to mention. My amazing breakfast? $ 13. THIRTEEN, PEOPLE. When does this even happen anymore? I will be back, no doubt.

Love, love, LOVE Pony Cat! I’ve been here a bunch of times for brunch now. The coffee is always fantastic and the menu has quite a lot of variety on it. They strive to serve up more than just the usual bacon and egg fare. My favourite thing on the menu would possibly be the avocado smash(with salsa) or the french toast(with poached pears). The food is full of flavour the wait staff are super friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend it as a brunch spot!

Continuing our fooding saga in Brisbane, my friend and I bused ourselves to New Farm to grab some baked goods and lunch. We had anticipated grabbing lunch at Chouquette, but finding that it was more of a bakery, we stopped at Ponycat located around the corner. The recent warmth makes Ponycat a perfect place to eat, and it’s got a relaxed, artsy vibe, which translates to even the items on their menu. Covered in art on all three walls and chalked all over with the menu, this open air café takes their time with presentation. We got the smoked salmon with scrambled eggs(17), which came with these pickled cherry tomatoes that were absolutely delicious! The salmon and the eggs were average, but the cherry tomatoes were just so good! Being a tomato-hater, this says quite a bit! We also go the chorizo and caramelized onion frittata(16) with rocket and feta, which I actually preferred. It tasted pretty good, and was a generous portion, but was a bit sweet for my taste. Overall it was a good experience, though I don’t know if anything really stood out to me, plus the service was really slow…

Outstanding, After walking through a sea of dodgey nightclubs and kebab stores in Fortitude Valley, we find an oasis of amazing food and great coffee at the PonyCat café in New Farm. The waiter was on the ball. My wife picked the over baked haloumi salad, I didn’t mind what I had so I asked the waiter to pick for me. What I got was a sweet potato, chicken, fetta and oven baked tomato salad which blew my mind. For a little small café it was a five star dish: I ate the lot and now I can’t move. Go there!

The PonyCat is a busy little café in New Farm, that does great breakfast and lunch. They serve Breakfast all day long, which is fantastic! More cafes need to do this. The waitstaff are very enthusiastic and friendly. There’s one girl in particular who has served me every time and boy, she must love her job. There are a few tables inside, it’s nice and cozy in there, plus a few small tables on the street and up the side alley. You might be waiting a while for a table if you come during a busy time, which seems to be all day on weekends. The décor is really cute, with graffiti and paintings decorating the walls. Great coffee too. Our food took about half and hour to come out but this was at midday on a Saturday and the café was full, so it was to be expected. The meals are a bit different from the usual breakfast/brunch fare– a few stand out dishes are the Boston Beans with sausage and fried egg($ 16) and the Sweet Potato and Corn pancakes($ 16). There are also sandwiches, salads and burgers on the menu, but as if you wouldn’t order from the All Day Breakfast menu!

I actually don’t have a bad word to say about the Ponycat Café, I really don’t. Its really gorgeous and simple appeal attracted me to it from the outset, and its cutely askew signage was only more inviting and endearing. It seems to be a pretty busy and popular place, and there are endless distracting qualities about it. The tables, for example, are just collages of old flyers and small posters, and act as a perfect distraction when you want to ignore the person you’re with, whether it be a boring date or a lecturing brother. There’s no paper menus; all the specials and meals feature on a span of blackboards just above the front counter, so you’re free to peruse your choices any time you want. And not only is breakfast all day(huzzah!) lunch is an all-day option too! Thank goodness, a place after my own heart. What are you supposed to do at nine in the morning when all you want is a burger and everyone is still serving eggs? Go to the Ponycat Café. Then their walls are artfully splattered with cartoons of horses and cats that add a dynamic atmosphere to the mix. The staff are so friendly and let you order in your own time, plus they don’t kick you out if you’re a long breakfaster/luncher like myself. It’s nestled far enough away from the valley’s centre to be out of the throng of action, but not too far away that it’s out of reach. Even if it were, I’d probably trek it out to get there, let’s be honest. Their food is also of a great mix: healthy or not-so-healthy, filling or small; you essentially have your choice. And the coffee is strong and just what the doctor ordered.
