Selamat datang, Jakarta! This place makes you feel like you’ve been transported to Indonesia. With sounds of gamelan music and a selection of traditional drinks, like teh(tea), kopi(coffee) and coconut juice, you’ll feel like you’re on holidays. Do try the nasi goreng, rendand sapi and ayam kari. You won’t regret it!

I love coming to this restaurant as it houses many my all time favourite meals. ‘Satay’- Yes! ‘Rendang(Rendang Sapi)’- Yes! ‘Lumpia sayur’- Yes! The atmosphere is wonderful too. It has part indoor dining and part alfresco and has big windows so if you are inside, you can also as though you are part of the alfresco dining. Inside is made up of a number of tables and chairs and along the wall there are table settings almost like booths with colourful Indonesian cushions decorating the seats. As mentioned the ‘Rendang’ dish is one of my absolute favourites. I was really expecting it to be impressive, however, sadly I was a little disappointed. It was still delicious, however, there wasn’t as much sauce and there wasn’t a lot the beef. I think I set my hopes to high on that one! Everything else we tasted was great. The ‘Balinese Spicy Chicken’ was so flavoursome and the ‘Gado-Gado’(steamed veggies and tofu with egg and peanut sauce) was the perfect accompaniment to the mains. This restaurant serves imported Indonesian beer, Bintang and they make a refreshing ‘Es Cendol’(sweet syrupy drink with jelly bits). I was very happy with the customer service. The waitresses, all from Indonesian backgrounds, offer a lot of interesting information about the cuisine and their personal suggestions. I thought that was really helpful and I was open to their recommendations. Definitely a must try on Brunswick St.
