We come here quite a bit, it’s a great transition for us as we are still new to the Paleo lifestyle. But the staff are lovely and the food is delicious so we’ll keep coming back. :)

First trip to the paleo café and we were very impressed with the quality of the food and friendly service. The ginger ninja smoothie was very tasty. The Thai green chicken curry special was yummy. The open steak sandwich was very tasty, although serving it on the linseed bread made the«bread» a little too crumbly. The sweet potato roasted chips that come with the steak were excellent. All in all, we could see this becoming our regular eating haunt in Bulimba.

From the outside, it looks like a successful dining establishment. Clean, inviting interior. Drinks look and do taste alright. I would give them 3 stars for the drinks. But had to drop the stars a bit due to: Operation — about 3 people ahead of me waiting in line to order, it took awhile for the first person to be serviced, then another wait for the 2nd/3rd, and I was about to dread another wait… just a bit silly. I think they need to look at staffing numbers. The bacon — my husband’s double smoked bacon looked good and from his clean plate at the end of the meal, must be pretty good. But mine were very weird — the color was more beige and almost like brown old meat past its expire date. It didn’t taste good either — my husband was happy to take them but he didn’t finish them either. The food overall — was meh, a-ok. We agreed we wouldn’t come back for the food, but would like to try the coffee/hot chocolate next time. It’s nothing to rave about, guys.

Oh, so bummed OUT!!! Massively disappointed with my first foray into the Paleo way of life. Have been on a bit of a health kick of late, so I suggested to my friends that we try the Paleo Café at Bulimba for lunch. Ugh, massive mistake. I’m talking, big. disappointment. I ordered the green pawpaw salad with cashews etc and had it topped with eye fillet(one of the extras on offer — the others were chicken and prawns). Well, can I just say? I could make a better salad at home with my eyes closed. And the steak? HA! What a joke. For $ 8 extra, I got the most measly serving of gristly fatty chewy steak you can possibly imagine being served. Eewww! Epic Fail. Now, onto my friend who was ‘starving’ when we arrived, and always polishes off her meals in lightning speed whilst not putting on a gram of excess weight. She ordered the chicken vegetable stack wrapped in bacon — and left half of it!!! What? This is unheard of?! When I asked what the problem was, she said that the chicken was overcooked and tasteless — and yep, that’s EXACTLY how it looked. Even the bacon looked terrible. To be fair, their juices were ‘nice’, but for $ 8 a pop, so they should be. The wait staff were friendly, I’ll give them that, but their chef’s should go back to school. We left and went across the road for coffee where my friend ate a beautiful piece of perfectly cooked apple pie to make up for the ‘disappointment’ that was her lunch. We won’t be going back.

Huge operational problems: the kitchen forgot to heat major parts of the meal. Our first visit to this place was a disaster: the food was cold. Not sure, if this was a bug or feature, we found out, they just forgot to heat it. and this was not only for one meal, but three at the same table. Very Paleo. I hope they find ways to avoid this.

Although the ‘Paleo’ eating lifestyle has been around for a while now, I must admit I’ve only sort of come to learn a little more about it in recent times, as I have friends who have embraced the Paleo way of life. It’s essentially about eating clean; having a good balanced diet of lean«meat, seafood, eggs, fruit & vegetables, nuts, seeds and berries». Eating clean also means that everything is fresh & made from scratch, nothing processed, «avoiding dairy, grains, sugars and preservatives». Now that sounds pretty healthy! So I thought I’d go and try the new Paleo Café in Bulimba which just opened on Thursday morning(31÷7÷2014) in the new«Avro» precinct shop 4&5, 210 Oxford Street, Bulimba. The shop fit out is beautiful, with the bright orange colour present through out, gorgeous seating, shelves stocked with paleo products & everything you need to make your own paleo treats at home. They also sell Miranda Kerr organic skincare, organic Elixir coffee, and take home ready– made meals for when you are feeling lazy! Now to the food. The menu is fabulous! So much to choose from. Breakfast is served till 11:30am which is great for a late riser like me. I decided to try something completely different and went for the ‘Pulled Pork, with poached eggs’. Who would’ve thought to put pulled pork on a brekkie menu, let alone, a Paleo one. It was awesome! If you go here, make sure you order it. The pork was so tender, and had a nice sweetness to it. Gorgeous with the cauliflower, and capsicum! I also had a long macchiato with almond milk & tried the single blend cold drip coffee which was great! So make sure you come and check them out sometime soon. Scott and Corita, the owners are just lovely, as well as the beautiful staff who are very welcoming. Open 7 days 7am-4pm and Sun 7am-3pm.
