We ate here before a show at the Seymour Centre. It’s best described as a gastro pub. Waitresses seat you and take your orders. The mains are around $ 25-$ 40. My two dining buddies are I all choose the chicken breast with feta and it was cooked beautifully and was very filling. They had mulled wine brewing and the scent filled the room with a lovely smell. I’d recommend this place for a nice dinner date.

Terrible! Had worst night. No vego food, hopeless bar staff! What’s happened to the Duck! My clipp $ 15 loyalty credit deleted! Busy and horrible. I’m a local never ever coming back to this place!

Pleasant atmosphere, somewhat friendly staff. Crazy prices for beer! This looks like a nice normal, neighbourhood pub. Decent looking food selections. Entrees can be a bit heavy, but ok nonetheless. The bartenders were a bit mixed in their customer service skills. My main complaint is that their beer pricing has really run amok… even for Sydney. I was served an $ 11 schooner of just a normal IPA. If you’re going to price beer at such a usurious level, then please list the prices in advance so that we won’t have a shocked back and forth Server: That will be $ 11 Me: It’s just a schooner, not a pint. Server: Yep, that’s the price for a schooner. Me and neighbouring 2 people: Really? Server: Yep Sigh

Seeking a Sunday roast on a rainy cold day, the Duck Inn presented itself as a candidate somewhat more than pub grub. Parking is a bit of a challenge in the little side streets of Chippendale, but persistence pays off. The fit out in this pub is very nice, eclectic and funky, and the dining room is hidden out the back in a separate room. Menu was good, and a special Sunday menu with roasts and other yummy things was available. Unsurprisingly most of us had a roast, with one opting for salmon. Service as good, wine list not too bad with a good number by the glass. After we were seated the place filled up very quickly — my main here gripe is that there is scant room between tables and you are always apologising to the table behind, at least if you are seated along the windows. The food was A-OK, not spectacular, but big servings of well cooked food and tasty sides. For desert, who can resist a apple and rhubarb crumble?!? Not me that is for sure. Also at the table was the poached pear, which looked and tasted fantastic. Recommended — will go again.

Yep, love the Duck Inn. The food is prepared with care, the menu has plenty of options and the servings offer good value. The restaurant, courtyard and bar area are very welcoming and the whole place has a great vibe. Recommended for a weekend catch up, mid week meal, groups or even a Sunday session. Good pre-theatre option too, if you’re seeing a show at the Seymour.

Great modern take on traditional British food, they do a roast every Sunday, so far I’ve had a roast beef and a roast pork there, both incredibly good. The dark chocolate mousse with butterscotch sauce drenched popcorn was also incredible and looked amazing on the plate too. In fact all the food is very well presented and very well made. I like the fact that the staff are really friendly and attentive despite being super busy and know their food and drink very well! Also I took the advice of a fellow Unilocaler and tried the Malbec(Argentine Red Wine) it was indeed fantastic, I highly recommend too!

Once upon a time this was an old pub called the Duck and Swan. It was very dingy, but we loved it. We sat out on big wooden tables in the beer garden, drank carlton, and everybody smoked and nobody bothered us. We often had the place to ourselves. These days, the Duck Inn is more of a restaurant that just happens to have a pub on the side. I agree with Lital — the food here is bloody great. Definitely well above average for pub food(well, like I said, it’s not really pub food these days). Even bangers and mash was a gourmet achievement(pork and fennel sausages with excellent mash). The menu does the standard main meal set: 4 kinds of meat, 2 kinds of fish, and only 2 vego dishes(a pasta or a veggie burger). When we were here they had sugar snap peas as a side dish — beautifully cooked, crunchy and lemony — just perfect. The décor is quite bizarre. There’s some tacky bookshelf wallpaper, lots of random bits of furniture with boardgames available for play … and the restaurant section is strangely in a sort of «beach house» style. It’s quite nice, but it’s odd. I think the idea was for it to look classy but homely. Kind of like an upmarket bed and breakfast? Home away from home? In that respect it’s a little confused, but I would go back for dinner there any day. If you’re trying to get a table on the weekend, best to make a reservation. It’s not super cheap, but the food is mostly good enough to warrant the prices. I liked how they use little white tiles as reservation plates, writing our details down with a whiteboard marker, and rubbing it out afterwards. I still miss the old Duck & Swan, but I am comforted by the fact that the Duck Inn does a good sausage.

The food here is… F&%$*ing amazing!(Get your mind outta the gutter — I meant flipping) I almost just want to leave my review at that. But alas I know the Unilocal gods would be disappointed. So– the evening; it was cold, it was late and it started in the front bar with a glass of Malbec with the potential option to join in with Monday night dinner. But ended out the back in the restaurant with a bottle of Malbec, french onion soup and incredible lamb sausages! The French onion was traditional. It was a big bowl of deliciousness with croutons that were baked with a bit of gruyère cheese and reminded me of a past trip to the Loire Valley in France! To follow were a couple of lamb & fennel sausages with creamy mash and a red sauce. I want to say it was romesco– but I can’t remember it saying that on the menu but definitely had a capsicum feel to it… The wine was divine, the food even more so and the trivia sounded fun(but I was too engrossed in catch ups with my friend to notice)… Give this place a go! Wont be disappointed!
