If you every want to be in furniture heaven, visit Theic Tea Bar where you sit on the beautiful In Situ designer furnitures and admire the showroom. They were redesigning the food menu when we went there, so they didn’t have a large range of food to pick from. I had the zucchini and hazelnut which tasted so fresh and healthy. I’m not a huge fan of herbal teas so I just went for the chai latte which was delicious. They serve the tea in the insulated glass cups(Bodum?) which just adds to the whole design feel of the place. We were the only people in the place when we went, maybe because it’s quite a way away from another shops/cafes but if you’re a big tea fan and love design, this is the place for you!

Tucked in the heart of industrial Collingwood, you might ask yourself if it’s worth the walk from Smith. It is. After all, when are you going to get to drink tea in the middle of a fancypants furniture shop? Nowhere, once this pop-up ends in a few months. So get your butts over while it lasts, pull up a chair, and start looking over their extensive menu. Ask the friendly wait-staff for recommendations, or just go with mine and order one of their chais. The regular one is delish, but for a caffeine rush you’ll need to go with their green tea chai.(Yup, it’s a thing — and the only time I’ve seen it on a menu.) Shoutouts go to their vegan Snickers balls($ 4), which really taste exactly like the real deal; and to their water. What, their table water? That’s right — the owner, Nathan, drives hours to the hills to a special spring to fill up gorgeous glass canisters.

Theic Tea Bar by Chamelia is the brainchild of Nathan Wakeford and is the latest venture for Somage Fine Foods. Set up in the INSITU furniture gallery(it seriously is a gallery, the furniture is more like art), Theic is unashamedly all about Tea. This isn’t the place for a black tea with milk and sugar, at Theic can choose from 33 varieties of specialty green tea, white tea, oolong, black tea and tisanes. The space has been elegantly put together and has a relaxed, chic feel thanks to manager Kayla. There’s also a menu of tasty treats that are very vegan and raw food friendly.
