Always a fan of the leftbank, but it’s quite dead on a week day which is a shame as it doesn’t have the same vibe as a Friday night, they have just started doing food trucks on a Wednesday night so maybe that will help, live music on weekends is awesome

Ahh, the Left Bank– I am most definitely a fan! The perfect setting overlooking the water in Fremantle. I came for a late lunch on Sunday afternoon and while there were plenty of people there got a table right away with the perfect view– my friend facing the football they had playing on a big screen and I got the water view. We ordered the BBQ Chicken, Bacon and Camembert Pizza and Wedges with Sour Cream and Sweet Chilli Sauce. The pizza was one of the best I’ve ever had! I thought the combination of two types of meat and cheese might be a bit sickly but they nailed it. The base was paper thin and so crispy, tomato sauce was so full of flavour and had a nice tart bite to cut through the richness of the cheese. This is no basic pizza– big slices of Camembert cheese topping it off. I have been thinking about this regularly since I ate it and salivated every time. The wedges while tasty, each wedge was about ¼ of a giant potato– tasty but a bit much for me. I can’t wait to come back to the Left Bank– great views, delicious food and a great mix of people.

I have lived in Perth for almost 20 years and had never been to the Left Bank till last weekend! Could it be my devotion to the north side of the river? My brother and I were looking for a waterside location to take my mum out for lunch on Mother’s Day. A lot of venues were booked out or only offering crazy inflated prices for set menus($ 80 for a café lunch — get outta here!). I heard the seafood platter at The Left Bank was pretty legit, so we headed down for a 2pm lunch. All the tables outside were taken except for one, and we waited for a few minutes and managed to score an even better table at the front with water views. The views aren’t as spectacular at I thought they might be, as they’re blocked by a plastic wind barrier curtain and are only of a small part of the river and the bridge. I was impressed with the prices of the food, most meals around the low $ 20s which is great value for Perth. We tried the seafood sampler, the calamari, the pumpkin and chickpea salad and the cheeseburger. Everyone was pleased with their meals, the calamari was exceptionally tender.

Came out hoping to see NHL Hockey playoffs since this is listed as a place to see US Sports. Unfortunately, the game was not being televised though the folks at the bar tried to find it for me. Many thanks for the attempt. I did stay for breakfast and a pint. As my grandfather would say«it’s noon somewhere in the world.» Bacon, scrambled eggs and potatoes. I’ve given up on finding a great American breakfast outside the States but this was close and damn good. Good food, good beer and friendly staff and patrons. I can’t ask for much more. Oh and right on the river so go for a walk after or before.

Went here for a Sunday lunch catch up. We started outside looking out towards the river and the view is great, the general feel if the place is relaxed and casual too. No need to get dressed up. The food was pretty standard priced for pub food these days. Not cheap not expensive. I had the steak sandwich and also had some of the calamari(the main). Steak sandwich was pretty standard. The steak was tender but the trimmings were nothing special. Size wise Ive had bigger but this was a comfortable serving where you don’t feel like you’ve over eaten after. The calamari was serviceable. Nothing special to me. The chips however were brilliant with both meals. Nice and crisp on the outside but not dried out on the inside. The place is kid friendly with a lot of parents bringing kids(lots of toddlers running around), so if you don’t like kids, probably don’t go for lunch on a Sunday. Overall, nice location, good view and a pub with some charm. Of the dishes I tried I wouldn’t go just for the food, but if you get hungry you can find something to eat easy enough and not be disappointed.

Been here a couple of times. The restaurant upstairs serves amazingly tasty food, a little pricey though. Love the seating around the balcony and great views. Downstairs it’s a typical pub grub affair. Reasonable prices and filling meals. Choice of indoor seating and cosy spots to have quiet conversations or head to the al fresco for a dose of the Freo doctor and amazing river views. Top place to hang out in summer. The only criticism would be the limited parking nearby.

I have been to the Leftbank quite a few times and have mostly enjoyed my visits. There’s a few different experiences you can have here given how wide the opening hours are, and that they have an indoor, outdoor and upstairs area. They do a pretty good breakfast(although there is the obligatory extra few dollars added to the menu items to cover the view). They have a fairly decent lunch/dinner menu, and will always have a daily special that constantly changes which I enjoy. While the food is okay, it’s nothing special, and quite honestly, some dishes seem like they contain nothing but frozen/pre-made ingredients which is a little disappointing. I have tried a few different menu items, and will be sticking to the steak burger or something safe for any future visits — the chilli crab pasta I had on my last visit was packet pasta with some frozen crab meat — lucky I was hungry! I don’t think I’ll be back for lunch or dinner, but I do enjoy some pub snacks, a few drinks and catching up with friends on a sunny afternoon or warm evening. The view and the atmosphere really are the only reasons to come back.

I went to the Left Bank Café last Saturday for lunch. We had an entertainment voucher for buy one meal, get one free so we both got the seafood platter for one and got both for only $ 30 which was a bargain! The seafood platter was good with a selection of battered fish, squid rings, chips, prawns and a bowl of chilli mussels. The only problem was that my partner got his and wanted to wait for me but my meal still hadn’t come out after 10 minutes! I told him to eat his before it got cold and asked about my meal which took another 5 minutes to come out, so he had bascially finished his when I started mine. In saying that, the waitstaff were very apologetic about the mistake and I could tell they were genuienly sorry and had accidently taken my dish to another table. It was a nice lunch and an amazing spot along the river which gave the meal a nice relaxed feel and we sat there for awhile after just watching the boats go buy. I will probably come back here but it is a bit more expensive than the usual pub so having the voucher was a bonus!

12 of us were here this morning for the $ 25 buffet breakfast for Mother’s Day. We had a table outside on the balcony overlooking the beautiful Swan river in East Freo. And I’m so glad we were out there as inside everyone looked crammed in, kids were running around and it was so noisy. Outside we had a relaxing time chatting and eating. The food was good, especially the hash browns, I could’ve piled my plate up high with those. The pancakes were divine with the yoghurt, maple syrup and berries. And everyone went for seconds and thirds with the delicious pastries! The staff were very friendly and chatty when clearing our plates and the ordered coffees and hot chocolate came out quickly. Would love to go back and try a meal at night and what entertainment they have to offer. :)

My dad and I come here for father-daughter time over coffee and eggs Benedict. We are both mad eggs Benedict lovers and the left bank has the best. Theirs is very simple with two English muffin halves topped with ham, poached egg and then of course the sauce hollandaise, which is amazing here. No fluffy garnish, just a bit of coarse pepper sprinkled on the plate. The best part is, that it always looks and tastes the same! Also can’t beat the view of the swan river on a sunny morning. Gets busy though so book ahead. Downside would be that the staff sometimes take a while to find you and by the time they’ve circled around a few times the breakfast can be a bit on the cool side.

This is my favourite breakfast spot. Great food — consistently and very friendly staff. One of the best things about going is getting to see the regulars everyday, and I mean everyday! There is a following of people who are there religiously and I can see why. The staff treat them like personal friends, the atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable and like I already said — the food is great! I haven’t been too much in the evening when it switches over into pub mode but the menus are all appealing and pricing is pretty decent now. Various days represent special meal deals as well to increase the value. For example one say offer a pint and a chicken parmigiana, where as another may offer $ 10.00 pizzas. Would definitely recommend trying with a few friends or even look at making this spot your regular breakfast destination! MOTHERSDAYREVIEW: Didn’t want to detract from the review I have given them because it’s always been great… I went along for Mother’s Day today and wouldn’t do so again — buffet was very average quality for $ 25 a head. We had booked a table yet were just stuffed into a corner that we clearly could not comfortably fit in. Not well planned on their behalf and perhaps overbooked. Great for day today, perhaps look else where for mothers day breakfast.

At least the beer was cold, but do were the chips and calamari. No flavour, no taste. Bummer.

I enjoyed my Sunday afternoon at the Left Bank with my husband and another couple and had a great experience. I had fish and chips which was delicious and their tartar sauce is notably impressive. You walk up to the counter to order, and the food didn’t take long to get to us– yet another thing to be impressed by. I’m slowly learning what everyone means when they say WA stands for Wait Awhile!

Personally I have other places to be on a Sunday than the Left Bank, that said when I have been dragged along it has been enjoyable. Situated right on the water there are few better views from pubs around Perth and it definitely takes advantage with plenty of seating outside overlooking the river. The menu is solid and the food is all pretty tasty, in particular the Left Bank breakfast. I would generally go to the Lefty to have lunch with a mate or for after work beers as opposed to a big Friday or Sunday night. The one time i will have a big one at Lefty is Christmas eve where they hold the best party around Perth, with the car park opened up and every man and his dog comes along.

Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons is the best time to be impressed with the atmosphere at The Left Bank. It is one of the busiest and best Sunday sessions in Perth. There is a live DJ most Friday evenings which really gets the party atmosphere going and although they have no control over the weather, the sunshine really enhances an evening here. The food is delicious too so worth coming during lunch time.

The Left Bank offers three kinds of experience; the chilled out afternoon brew, a more upscale restaurant upstairs and a crowded Sunday Session. I’ve never been a fan of heading to overly busy pubs for a «session» on a Sunday night unless there’s good live original music involved, so I’m awarding these four stars based on the first two as I would rather be castrated than spend a Sunday afternoon here. The Left Bank is often very quiet in the afternoon, making it a nice place to head down to and get some work done over a glass of wine or a beer, while admiring their view of the two bridges to North Fremantle. They also do a mean coffee and slightly overpriced pub grub-style lunches, but there are better places(for less money) to head to if that’s what you’re after. Upstairs is a pricey restaurant that caters mostly to less adventurous palettes; if you’re in the mood for a nice steak and classy glass of red in a relatively intimate setting, this is a great place to head. The seafood dishes are also very fresh and last time I was there I found myself envying the Coconut King Prawns served to the table beside me. The menu in this section is not cheap(steak is $ 29-$ 36) and there’s nothing here if you’re looking for something a bit left field, but they do steak and seafood very well. If you’re looking to book a table somewhere conventional, where you can be assured both of your meals will be delicious, this is a good place to go.

I’m really undecided on the Left Bank. Most people I know swear by it and love it. It certainly looks impressive on the paper with a location that is on the river waterfront. On the weekends, it is always full and it seems to do well. But for me the experience was exceedingly average. I went for a lunch and while the food was good there was nothing to separate this experience from any other average Fremantle bar. It is a kind of experience I’ve had multiple times and a kind of experience that is easy to duplicate. I guess the biggest fault of this bar is that it is good, but not great. And just not sucking shouldn’t be able to get you by when there are so many great places. Try it, you might like it.

East Fremantle’s The Left Bank is the kind of bar that gives a meaning to Perth’s iconic Sunday Sesh. Located smack bang on the waterfront and across from The Red Herring, it’s the perfect spot for an afternoon drink as you watch the sun go down on the Swan River. During the week the place is fairly quiet, so if you’re after a table for a big group, then is the time to easily nab a spot and enjoy a dish from either the café bar or the restaurant menu. In a location like this one, I recommend sitting outside and enjoying their chilli salted potato slices — they’re my favourite and go down nicely with their Pinot Gris. The Left Bank understandably gets packed out on the weekends from 5pm onwards on either day, so if you’re after dinner expect to wait a little bit. But don’t be swayed, you can count on The Left Bank to be pulsating with chilled out and cheery good vibes and high fives all around. Every time I’ve been there I’ve somehow ended up with a few more friends by the end of the night, so if you’re looking for a local watering hole free from pretension and flowing with jovial folk, consider The Left Bank your new favourite haunt. My only gripe is that their drinks menu is a teensy bit on the unimaginative side. Definitely could do with a bigger selection of wine and cider.
