A local neighborhood cheese shop… what else could a girl ask for? Perfectly positioned next to a wine shop and across from a café Harper and Blohm provides a one stop shop for all your entertaining needs. I called in recently to pick up some cheese for Christmas and found the experience very enjoyable. I was greeted with a smile, offered tastes of the cheeses I was purchasing and had my cheese related questions answered while I waited for my cheeses to be packaged up. There’s a great variety to chose from which will leave all cheese tastes satisfied.

Oh sweet cheeses. So many beautiful bundles of cheese joy. Harper & Blohm have really cornered the niche cheese eating market, in this delightful slice of heaven. Located at the front of the Prince Wine store this is a match made in foodie heaven. The lovely ladies here have an impressive knowledge of all things cheese. And things to accompany all the cheese you have just purchased. Such as crackers, olives, pickled stuff. I’m always super cheeses impressed when someone can sell me a blue cheese based on my limited knowledge of what another prefers. With minimal assistance and some vague words the ladies pulled out a suitably blue cheesey cheese to suit the recipient and the bottle of wine for that evening. Once you’ve spoken to Olivia or her staff you understand and appreciate their love of cheese. Each piece is cut using and appropriate tool. Think wire, knives, guillotine. If you are unsure of your own cheese infused desired the ladies here will serve you up teeny tiny tastes and guide you through each individual cheese.

Beautifully little Suburban spot for picking up some delicious cheese! We dropped by here on a rainy Friday night, then stopped next door for a bottle of wine, and BAM, our evening in front of the fireplace was sorted. Lovely, friendly service. They will be more than happy to give you some little tastings and make some suggestions from their lovely little collection of cheese. Check it if you’re in the area!

«How can my cheese have gone off after only a week,» complained my cousin, «it has been ageing for three years!» To me the mystery is how her parmesan survived an entire week unfinished. Finding cheese in the inner north has been more challenging than storing it, but Harper & Blohm has changed that. Honest and elegant it occupies little more than Prince Wine Store’s front window, sharing a door with their tasting room. Inside is a sleek cabinet of cheese and a worn kitchen bench, warmed with a bread basket, preserves and olives pickling in jars. I skip the tasting notes and follow the garotte-wielding guide as she figures out what I’m looking for amongst the Australian and international range. Compelled by enthusiasm and slivers served off the side of a spatula it’s easy to take home more than you intended. Each week a cheese is matched with a beer from Prince Wine Store. I’m one of many who think cheese pairs better with beer than wine and this is a great way to taste it yourself. It takes surprisingly little to transform a dish or an afternoon. I inevitably leave feeling guilty for underpaying, hoping this delightful shop will keep.
