Just ordered takeaway here — the sushi was still quite fresh tasting, despite being very late in the day. The tempura whiting was still fresh and crunchy. The owner was very friendly. Very reasonably priced — especially at the end of the day bargains. Not the nicest building, so I would probably always takeaway… but definitely good enough to go back to.

Yum! Their sushi rolls are delicious and BIG! About $ 3 for one that is the equivalent of eating a sandwich but much more nutritious. Good variety, too. The counter faces the street so it’s easy just to stroll up and point to your choice then munch it as you proceed strolling down this pedestrian mall.

Stopped in for a quick lunch with my girls. One roll each was the perfect size for my 7 and 5 year olds. They loved being able to see the rolls and pick the one they individually wanted and I loved the price. The teriyaki chicken roll got thumbs up and the cooked tuna received two thumbs up. The seaweed roll was yummy but messy, and my tofu roll(the filling) was greatly enjoyed by my 1 year old.

Oh sushi, how I love thee. And how I love thee price! Three bucks for a sushi roll? Wow. You really can’t go wrong. You’ll think your back at your primary school tuck shop where three bucks meant you could feast like a king all day. Okay, so it’s not quite as cheap as a primary school canteen, but it’s probably much healthier than a white bread cheese single encrusted ‘cheesie.‘ I really love the relatively new to Perth sushi option. It beats pies and chips and even salad rolls. I thank Sushi in Freo for bringing this healthy Eastern delight to all who walk the streets of the port city. It’s always fresh here and it’s some of the best sushi I’ve tasted in Perth. The staff are really friendly and will quickly make you up whatever you want. Sun dried tomato sushi roll? No problems. I actually haven’t tried that one yet but think I’ll visit the unusual concoction on a day when I’m feeling in a more culinary brave mood. Until then, all trips to Freo will be accompanied by a tuna sushi roll from here. Mmm mm.

This is a great place to pick up a cheap sushi snack. Like Camilla, I’m a bit weirded out by some of their western options. I tried the sun-dried tomato roll and found that it’s not an ingredient which lends itself well to sushi, as it is so chewy that you inevitably end up with the entire filling in your mouth in the first bite. That shouldn’t keep you away from here though; in the midst of a Fremantle shopping expedition, a $ 3 sushi roll can be all you need to keep your energy up. Plus they have more conventional rolls for sale too.

Big love for sushi as I have mentioned countless times in other reviews and this one might just take the winning spot. For Perth anyway. I love the fact that they sell healthy good food, for a cheap price. Some sushi places charge way too much for what is a little sushi roll. This place however is really reasonable, but just as tasty, perhaps even more so, than anywhere else. They have a great vegetarian range, and a massive array of different meat choices. The avocado as boring as it sounds is my favourite. Last time I went in they didn’t have it and I asked the girl if she is making anymore and she said no problem and made one up just for me. This kind of service goes a long way. I come back here to calm any sushi craving!

If you’r after sushi in Freo, then you can’t go wrong with The Sushi in Freo. This aptly named little sushi bar sells freshly made, tasty sushi rolls cheap as chips, with rolls starting at $ 2.60, and none going far above $ 3. They have a wide variety of fillings, and if the person in front of you nabs the last tempura prawn or(insert favourite filling here), then the friendly staff will happily make some more for you afresh. I can’t really fault The Sushi in Freo — it’s quick, simple, tasty and cheap, and to use a tired cliché, it does exactly what it says on the tin. Hurrah!

When I moved to Perth I really struggled to find a sushi bar that sold sushi rolls individually. Sometimes a girl doesn’t feel like a bento box! Luckily for carb enthusiasts such as myself, The Sushi in Freo understands the concept of fresh sushi for a very reasonable price. I’m talking avocado rolls for $ 3.20! Sure to make you tummy and your wallet thank you — but make sure you request soy sauce if taking away, otherwise they don’t include it. The staff are always super quick in acknowledging all customers and if they’re out of your favourite(the tofu roll always sells the quickest!) they’ll happily make it for you fresh on the spot right then and there, even if they’re closing. Their range is also a little bit Westernised — think sun dried tomato and chicken schnitzel. Bit weird, but I’ve never met a sushi roll I didn’t like. They also sell green tea and Miso soup for $ 1, and if you order a premium box it’s on the house.
