I have tried the chocolate croissant and the coffee. A decent place. The coffee is campos. The flat white was average compared to the cheaper ones using Campos in Newtown(NSW). I am not sure why coffee costs more here than in Sydney or Melbourne but this place sells at the going rate so not an issue unique to this place. The croissant was from a big pile and the chocolate was neither generous nor stingy. Not a melt in your mouth croissant but not too bad for a countrytown like Brisbane.

When in this area we stopped at this little bakery for a coffee and brunch/lunch. I was surprised how much variety they can put into this little store. From freshly baked breads to cakes, to pastries, sausage rolls, cookies etc. Everything looked really delicious and even though I would always go for something sweet, I was nearly starving so I went for the toasted«Chicken, Brie and sun dried tomato» sandwich and is was delicious. The shops was run by 4 young ladies and I think they did a pretty good job. There’s plenty of tables outside the shop for you to enjoy your goodies. This place is also good for families with kids as they have plenty of toys to keep your little ones entertained. I am a huge fan of sourdough bread and when I spied a «Haloumi and Mint» version I couldn’t resist. On the way home I had to stop at a supermarket to buy dips and I can tell you that the whole loaf didn’t last long! Absolutely delicious.

When I arrived at around 1pm, Miettes Boulangerie was bustling with customers sitting outdoors on a cold day. With my book in hand, I decided I’d have my regular skinny latte with a slice of hazelnut chocolate cake(which I’ve forgotten the name of). Miettes uses Campos coffee, which is supposedly good I suppose, but my skinny latte turned out too dark. It was a bit too bitter for me and left me a bit disappointed. The cake’s flavour was decent, but was a bit difficult to cut, as it had many different layers. The texture was a bit chewy, which I had mixed feelings about, but the chocolate layers were good. I was expecting more of a flaky crunch, and perhaps the look of the cake was deceiving, but it was a bit heavy and not really my thing. Maybe I should have gone for the lighter passionfruit flavoured cake, or a croissant instead. It was really pretty though! They do have breads and cookies in the back that look delicious, but my cake left me dubious. The service was excellent, but I’m not sure this place is as good as Urbanspoon says. The plastic chairs and outdoor seating are also not my favourite, but I suppose it’s not much to complain about. If you think differently about this place and think I’ve just gone on a bad day, drop me a note and a recommendation!

Purely by chance. Driving to work. Woah what’s that, something that’s open that resembles somewhere I can get my much needed cup of coffee. More than a cup of coffee did I leave with. Owned by Greg Willis and his wife Anne, not only does this little café hustle and bustle at 6:30am(I’m pretty sure it opens earlier) and directly opposite from another European style café… and most importantly it sells something called Cinnarolls(I had every intention of taking a picture of mine, but I ate it… so pic to come) which are these upside down cinnamon rolls topped over with icing which isn’t over the top sweet… just a delight for morning tea. Also try the assortment of sourdough artisan breads and a Marjolaine and Strawberry tart for a taste of France. They also serve piping hot pies and sausage rolls and a variety of freshly baked goods. It surprised me how busy this little café got so early in the morning on a week day when everything else seemed to be closed. Lots of bike riders and walkers come here regularly and to give you an idea of how busy this café gets, there are at least 4 staff serving up the delishioso pastry and coffee. It’s a delight to see a café serve piping hot pastries, not soggy semi-cold ones this early in the morning and I will definetely be back. Note: They serve Campos coffee here!
